Job Summary The Health Equity Field Specialist II (FSII) supports short- and long-term operational initiatives and L.A. Care’s Health Equity and Disparities Mitigation initiatives. This role coordinates and administers programs and initiatives aimed at addressing needs of members and the community with a focus on eliminating health disparities. As a field specialist, it develops relationships with community leaders, serves as the Health Equity Department’s liaison with the community, and engages in outreach to community-based organizations, spreading information about L.A. Care’s community efforts, advocacy and engagement opportunities.
It actively guides, supports and directs the Consumer Health Equity Council in alignment with Member Equity Council needs and the Health Equity Disparities Mitigation plan.
Duties Facilitates and increases community interaction and partnerships with external organizations to meet requirements for Health Equity Disparities and Mitigation plan and NCQA Health Equity Plus.
Manages assigned Health Equity projects and actively participates on other project teams supported by Health Equity.
Administers member health equity campaigns, including outreach calls, social media campaigns, and member health education initiatives to address prioritized health and social health disparities.
Collaborates with Community Outreach and Engagement department in administering Consumer Health Equity Council.
Provides guidance for Health Equity and Disparities Mitigation work plan.
Writes and disseminates progress reports and presentations for assigned Health Equity projects.
Processes member materials through appropriate channels to ensure compliance and regulatory requirements are met (Podio).
Represents L.A. Care at Community Resource Center events, community meetings, health fairs, and other community events as needed.
Documents, processes, and follows up on member issues where applicable.
Develops and maintains positive relationships with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimum member care and satisfaction.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Required Associate's Degree
In lieu of a degree, equivalent education and/or experience may be considered.
Education Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or Public Health
Experience Required:
Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience working with low economic status populations, ethnic minorities, and other diverse communities in settings such as community-based organizations, social service agencies, or civic organizations.
Experience and ability in facilitation of meetings and mediation.
Demonstrated experience in engaging community members.
Experience in creating presentations.
Skills Required:
Basic research abilities for problem recommendation and resolution.
Demonstrated project management skills.
Demonstrated management of volunteers.
Excellent verbal, written, communication and presentation skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Preferred:
Bilingual in one of L.A. Care Health Plan’s threshold languages is highly desirable: English, Spanish, Chinese, Armenian, Arabic, Farsi, Khmer, Korean, Russian, Tagalog, Vietnamese.
Physical Requirements Light

Travel to offsite locations for work.
Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
