Summary : The New Car Sales & Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing our sales floor operations related to new vehicle sales, assisting in overseeing sales floor operations related to used vehicle sales, and strategically managing our new vehicle inventory pipeline. In this role, you will be responsible for two critical pillars of our dealership: leading a high-performing sales team to meet volume and gross profit targets, and managing the lifecycle of our new vehicle inventory—from ordering and factory allocation to lot merchandising and final sale. Typical Hours and Days

New Car Sales & Inventory Managers are scheduled and expected to work 50 or more hours per week. The ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and Saturdays is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

Sales Leadership & Team Management

Lead, coach, and motivate a team of sales consultants to meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales volume, CSI, and profit goals.

Set aggressive yet realistic individual and department sales targets; monitor performance daily/weekly and provide ongoing feedback, training, and support.

Assist in conducting regular sales meetings, training sessions, and role-playing to improve sales techniques, objection handling, and closing skills.

Establish and maintain product knowledge standards and training.

Assist sales team members in structuring deals, closing transactions, and overcoming challenges.

Oversee customer sales and delivery processes to ensure high CSI scores, positive reviews, and the fulfillment of dealership and/or manufacturer delivery requirements.

Act as the primary point of contact for dissatisfied customers. This requires identifying the root cause of the issue and providing a prompt resolution that is fair, firm, and professional.

Foster and maintain a positive, helpful, and respectful work environment by promoting open communication, recognizing achievements, resolving conflicts constructively, encouraging collaboration, and leading by example to support team morale, retention, and high performance.

Inventory Management

Manage new vehicle inventory levels, including forecasting needs based on sales trends, market conditions, manufacturer allocations, and economic factors.

Maintain optimal inventory mix by model, trim, color, and options to maximize sales velocity and minimize aged stock.

Place new vehicle orders and manage incoming allocations efficiently.

Maintain accurate and timely new vehicle pricing.

Monitor days' supply and turn rates; adjust pricing, merchandising, and promotional strategies to move slow-turning inventory.

Monitor and verify accurate delivery reporting of new vehicle sales to the manufacturer.

Oversee and manage dealer trade needs and transactions.

Oversee the physical and online display of new vehicles, ensuring vehicles are displayed in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as dealership guidelines.

Operational & Strategic Duties

Assist with the forecasting of goals and objectives for sales, gross, and key expenses on a monthly and annual basis.

Monitor marketing and lead sources to evaluate the effectiveness of current marketing and promotion programs.

Develop and implement sales strategies, promotions, and advertising plans in collaboration with the General Sales Manager.

Analyze sales data, market trends, and competitor activity to identify opportunities and the potential need for tactical adjustments.

Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing vehicle sales, advertising, and consumer protection.

Collaborate with finance, service, and other departments to facilitate smooth transactions, timely deliveries, and post-sale support.

Assist with monitoring customer follow-up according to the established dealership process.

Ensure that Sales Consultants are informed of all new inventory and current marketing efforts.

Understand and communicate manufacturer rebates and incentives.

Conduct monthly MADA safety meetings

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

One to three years of experience in Automotive Sales.

One or more years of supervisory experience is preferred.

Exceptional communication, negotiation, empathy, problem-solving, and customer service abilities—particularly in high-pressure or upset customer scenarios.

Excellent leadership, coaching, and team-building skills with the ability to motivate and develop sales professionals.

Proficiency with dealership management systems (DMS), CRM software, and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace.

Professional, well-groomed personal appearance

Familiarity with digital sales tools, online lead management, modern retailing practices, and CSI improvement strategies.

Willing to submit to a pre-employment background check & MVR

Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record

Must be 18 years of age

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is Regularly exposed to moving vehicles, and other moving mechanical parts, may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may occasionally be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration if entering the service department; and frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock and explosives. The noise level in the work environment may vary from low to moderate in the showroom, to loud when in the service department.
