Assistant Summer Camp Directors

We are seeking creative and energetic Assistant Summer Camp Directors for Camp Kaleidoscope Jr. (ages 5-10 years) and Camp Kaleidoscope Sr. (ages 11-14 years)! Camp Kaleidoscope Jr. will be based at the Avery Street Recreation Center and Camp Kaleidoscope Sr. will be based at the Garner Recreation Center. Our Junior camp will run from June 15 - August 14 and our Senior Camp will run from June 15

July 30. Assistant Directors are expected to work through August 16. Camp hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Assistant Summer Camp Director orientation will be held in late May. (If available, planning for camp will begin in May.) Examples of duties: Anticipated duties include heavy involvement in the planning, organizing, and management of a summer camp, in addition to involvement with special events and classes. The selected candidates will gain first-hand experience in municipal recreation program administration including activity planning, staff scheduling, conflict resolution, purchasing, financial management, and program delivery. The Assistant Summer Camp Directors will be directly involved in the planning process which will begin in May. Camp staff training and orientation is scheduled for late May, early June during late afternoon and early evening hours. Minimum qualifications: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and must have prior summer camp work experience. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Applicants who are at least 21 years of age and have a valid North Carolina driver's license and good driving record are preferred and will complete on-the-job training to safely operate a 15-passenger van. First Aid /CPR/ AED training will be provided for all counselors. Additional information: This is a seasonal position scheduled for 35-39 hours per week. The standard work schedule is Monday-Friday with occasional night and weekend hours. Equal Opportunity Employer
