
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Preparer to join our team. The ideal candidate has extensive experience preparing and reviewing a high volume of individual (Form 1040) tax returns, including complex filings with multiple income sources, investments, and deductions. This person will play a key role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and an exceptional client experience during the busy tax season and beyond.
Responsibilities
Prepare and review a high volume of individual income tax returns (Forms 1040, Schedules A, B, C, D, E, etc.) Handle complex tax situations involving W-2s, 1099s, K-1s, investments, real estate, and self-employment income Communicate directly with clients to collect tax documentation, clarify information, and provide status updates Identify potential deductions, credits, and tax-saving opportunities in compliance with IRS regulations Maintain organized and accurate client files and documentation Utilize tax preparation software (e.g., Lacerte, UltraTax, Drake, ProSeries, CCH, or similar) efficiently and accurately Stay current with federal and state tax laws and filing requirements Collaborate with senior accountants and partners to ensure timely filing and exceptional client service Qualifications
Minimum 6 years of experience preparing individual tax returns in a high-volume environment Proficiency with tax preparation software and Microsoft Excel Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax codes Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines simultaneously CPA, EA, or PTIN preferred (not required)
