Overview
Central Virginia Community College is located in Lynchburg, Virginia, in view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. CVCC is a comprehensive two-year institution of higher education with an enrollment of approximately 5,000 students in occupational/technical programs and university-parallel/college transfer programs.

Work Location: Lynchburg - 680 | Schedule: Standard Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm; hours may vary based on campus activities. Sensitive Position: Yes
Responsibilities
Responsible for day-to-day management of campus law enforcement resources in a manner that provides a safe and secure environment.
Make effective decisions regarding scheduling, training and deployment of campus human and technology-driven enforcement/protection resources; the disposition of cases; and the policies regarding enforcement and their effect on campus life and the community.
Oversee the planning, development and testing of campus emergency preparedness and the campus emergency preparedness staff.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Qualifications
Training and experience in criminal justice, law enforcement, emergency management, or a related area that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.
Knowledge of federal, state and local laws; knowledge of effective enforcement procedures; knowledge of emergency preparedness planning, testing and management; knowledge of Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and Continuity of Operations (COOP) procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral; ability to think strategically, set goals and objectives and guide the unit to effectively achieve goals.
Skilled with all law enforcement equipment including firearms and other forms of protection; basic computer skills; valid driver’s license; current law enforcement officer certification; NIMS certifications (100, 200, 700, 800 and 400).
Additional Considerations
Knowledge of VCCS and campus policies and regulations.
Ability to manage and supervise campus police staff and emergency preparedness staff.
