In 2026, the ICHD AmeriCorps Public Health program is offering member positions within the Ingham County Health Department and with partner organizations in the Capital region to address 4 key areas of public health: fostering public health equity, expanding access to healthcare and social services, improving the built environment (with an emphasis on food and housing security), and developing the public health workforce. The Ingham County Health Department boasts nearly 20 years of institutional experience administering AmeriCorps programs in the region.

Member Duties *PLEASE EMAIL FOR FULL POSITION DESCRIPTION* This Communications Assistant will contribute to the success of the Michigan Association for Local Public Health (MALPH) by ensuring the association develops and executes consistent communication strategies and messaging. This position will create content for print and digital media outlets and will assist association staff and members in aligning communications with key messages of the association.
Consult with MALPH leadership to develop effective communication procedures and policies for various public health emergent issues and established public health campaigns.
Develop productive working relationships with other MALPH staff and contractors working to implement the new Together for Health public information campaign to promote implementation of a regional vision for public health policies across 6 strategic priorities.
Program Benefits Education award upon successful completion of service, Living Allowance.
Terms Permits attendance at school during off hours, Permits working at another job during off hours.
