About Our Job

This is an entry-level communications associate position supporting the seven divisions of Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources. The position is an integral part of the PRNR Outreach Team and assists with the department’s day-to-day and long-range digital communications strategies for web and social media. Under the direction of the PRNR Marketing and Outreach Supervisor, this position is responsible for designing and creating content for a variety of digital and print projects. The position follows department and county government procedures, policies, directives and guidance; and ensures actions are aligned with the county’s vision, mission and goals. The position is responsible for providing excellent customer service in each task and/or assigned project whether for internal and/or external use.

Job Description:

PRNR Website Management

Responsible for the design and function of the PRNR external site and intranet.

Creates, curates and publishes relevant content for the PRNR websites (external and intranet).

Coordinates with PRNR division content owners for review and publishing of content on the external website.

Regularly conducts PRNR web maintenance to include ADA compliance.

Monitors and analyzes the PRNR’s external website and social media overall performance. Provides PRNR Outreach Team with regular reports regarding external platforms’ performance and makes recommendations for functionality and user experience improvements.

Social Media Support

Assists and supports PRNR Marketing Outreach Supervisor with social media.

As directed, develops and implements PRNR social media campaigns and works closely with the Communications Department Social Media Coordinator for guidance.

Assists with responding to PRNR-related social media comments and direct messages.

Supports PRNR social media videos with scheduling, developing talking points and story ideas.

Photographs signature events and parks on an as-needed basis.

PRNR Project Deliverables

Assists with creating and implementation of design concepts and content for a variety of PRNR materials including signature event deliverables, kiosks and signage.

Schedules, maintains and develops e-newsletters and distribution lists.

Assists with proofing deliverables such as the Summer Camp Guide and the Events and Activities Guide.

As directed, tracks the progress of PRNR Outreach projects and provides PRNR projects.

Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Relations, Mass Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Illustration or related field– OR– Significant related experience in Public Communications or related field.

Preferred Qualifications: Certifications in web development, maintenance, and social media preferred.

Job Competencies: Proficient written and verbal communications, effective troubleshooting and web maintenance, experienced interpersonal skills, adept project coordination, social media applications expertise (Facebook and Loomly), skilled Adobe Creative Suite user (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign), superior customer service skills, effectively work independently and as a team member, and strong prioritization ability.

Work Schedule Pay: $20.61 - $28.20
