Value-Add Sales Manager — responsible for driving growth and profitability of thyssenkrupp's value-added services portfolio across regional facilities. Located in the Ohio or Michigan area, the role will work with Outside Sales Representatives in MI, IN, OH, KY, Western PA, and Rochester Metropolitan, NY. Responsibilities
Strategy & Growth: Develop and execute the regional value-add growth strategy; partner with Regional Sales Manager and Inside Sales; define target markets, customers, and pricing; develop annual Value Add Growth Plans with measurable goals; identify opportunities for equipment, capabilities, and technology upgrades with ROI justification. Sales Enablement: Serve as SME for value-add processes and quoting logic; support outside sales with technical consultation and customer visits; work with Value-Add Quoting Specialists to ensure accurate, competitive quotes; develop sales tools and playbooks; drive solution-selling adoption. Operational Alignment: Collaborate with Operations to align capacity, labor, and scheduling with demand; standardize quoting logic, tolerances, and routing; ensure VA work meets AS9100 and customer requirements; evaluate external partners to expand capabilities; lead or participate in CI initiatives. Financial Performance: Own Value-Add P&L metrics, review performance dashboards, build ROI models for new equipment or expansions, establish pricing guidelines and monitor quote performance. Leadership & Development: Coach and mentor Value-Add Quoting Specialists and Inside Sales; support pipeline reviews and strategy sessions; facilitate training on print interpretation and VA terminology; promote accountability and continuous improvement. Qualifications
5-10 years in metals distribution, machining, or value-added manufacturing operations, with solution sales experience. Outside sales experience required. Strong understanding of material processing types (CNC machining, waterjet, routing, bar grinding, fabrication, etc.). Proven ability to translate technical capability into commercial advantage. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with sales, operations, and customers. Experience developing business cases for capital equipment and ROI analysis. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Proficient in ERP (SAP preferred), quoting systems, and CRM (Salesforce).Working knowledge of AS9100, PPAP, and FAI quality processes. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Business. Experience managing technical sales or regional manufacturing operations. Familiarity with equipment programming/part drafting software.
