Overview
The Summer Day Camp Director is responsible for planning and implementing summer camp activities. The Camp Director supervises camp counselor staff, provides direction to instructors and oversees the daily functions of the summer camp program. Working under the general supervision of the Recreation Manager, the Director is expected to be both a strong communicator and a positive role model. The Director will serve as a point of contact for parents, counselors, youth participants and Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resource staff. Work will include: the creation and maintenance of administrative records and logs, assisting with staffing schedules, and planning and executing weekly events and activities. The Director should be detailed, energetic and love working with children. Ideal candidates are dependable, conscientious, and work well in a team environment. Employee Values:

Supervise day camp program staff. Perform regular visual inspections of camp equipment. Overseeing the enforcement of camp rules at all times. Completing accurate accidents, behavior and/or discipline reports. Assisting with light-duty cleaning, and the setup and breakdown of tables and chairs. Be observant of and responsible for the campers. Assist with set-up and clean-up of camp and activities. Be knowledgeable of and enforce Summer Day Camp and Recreation policies and procedures. Fill in for Camp Counselors in the event of absence. Attend to campers with patience and enthusiasm. Provide First Aid and activate Emergency protocols when necessary. Communicate appropriately and efficiently with parents, Recreation staff, and Camp staff. May provide other duties as assigned and within the scope of this classification. Hours
40 hours per week Monday – Friday – 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM June 2026 - August 2026 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge of communication and organization techniques; professionalism in the workplace; English grammar and composition; office equipment, including personal computers and software programs. Skill to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; understand and effectively adhere to oral and written instructions, communications, and procedures; maintain confidentiality as related to work assignments; establish and maintain effective working relationships with Town employees and the public; operate computer hardware, software, and other office equipment. Ability to engage in physical activity. Any combination of education and experience leads to completing a high school diploma or equivalent. Employees must maintain current CPR/AED/First Aid certification. Desirable Education and Experience
Two or more years of experience as a teacher, teacher aide or childcare provider.
