The City of Union City’s Community and Recreation Services is seeking temporary staff for a variety of recreation and program leadership roles. Applicants must meet the age, certification, and availability requirements outlined below. Successful candidates will be placed on an employment eligibility list for one year and may be hired from that list for additional vacancies.

Bike Workshop Technician (Recreation Leader) Must be at least 17.5 years old. Possess a valid California Driver’s License is desirable. CPR/First Aid/AED Certification by one month from first day of employment (training provided by City of Union City).

Building Attendant (Recreation Aide) Must be at least 15 years old. Possessing a valid California Driver’s License is desirable but not required. Work Permit if applicable. CPR/First Aid/AED Certification by one month from first day of employment (training provided by City of Union City).

Day Camp and Sports Camp Leader (Recreation Leader) Must be at least 17.5 years old. Possess a valid California Driver’s License is desirable. CPR/First Aid/AED Certification by one month from first day of employment (training provided by City of Union City).

Gym Attendant or Scorekeeper (Recreation Aide) Must be at least 15 years old. Possessing a valid California Driver’s License is desirable but not required. Work Permit if applicable. CPR/First Aid/AED Certification by one month from first day of employment (training provided by City of Union City).

Facility Rental Reception Aide (Recreation Aide) Must be at least 15 years old. Possessing a valid California Driver’s License is desirable but not required. Work Permit if applicable. CPR/First Aid/AED Certification by one month from first day of employment (training provided by City of Union City).

Facility Rental Reception Leader (Recreation Leader) Must be at least 17.5 years old. Possess a valid California Driver’s License is desirable. CPR/First Aid/AED Certification by one month from first day of employment (training provided by City of Union City).

Fitness Attendant (Recreation Leader) Must be at least 17.5 years old. Possess a valid California Driver’s License is desirable. CPR/First Aid/AED Certification by one month from first day of employment (training provided by City of Union City).

Summer Camp & Sports Camp Aide (Recreation Aide) Must be at least 15 years old. Possessing a valid California Driver’s License is desirable but not required. Work Permit if applicable. CPR/First Aid/AED Certification by one month from first day of employment (training provided by City of Union City).

Teen Leader (Recreation Leader) Must be at least 17.5 years old. Possess a valid California Driver’s License is desirable. CPR/First Aid/AED Certification by one month from first day of employment (training provided by City of Union City).

Therapeutic Recreation (Special Needs) Leader (Recreation Leader) Must be at least 17.5 years old. Possess a valid California Driver’s License is desirable. CPR/First Aid/AED Certification by one month from first day of employment (training provided by City of Union City).

Application Process The selection process may consist of one or more of the following components: Screening for Best Qualified, Performance Exam, Oral Interview. Oral Interviews will be scheduled in person or online during February 23, 2026 – March 15, 2026. Applicants who are invited to continue in the selection process will be notified by e-mail. Successful candidates’ names will be placed on an employment eligibility list. The eligibility list will remain in effect for a minimum of one year from the date the list is established. Additional vacancies that occur for this classification may be hired from the list.
