Overview The Clubhouse Landscaper performs daily groundskeeping duties to ensure all club facilities and their surrounding areas are clean, attractive, and well-maintained. This position requires hands-on labor and the ability to operate and maintain a variety of landscaping equipment. The landscaper is also responsible for promoting a positive image for the club by maintaining a high level of quality in their work.

Duties and Responsibilities

Grounds maintenance:

Perform routine upkeep of lawns and gardens, including mowing, edging, weeding, mulching, raking, and fertilizing.

Plant and bed care:

Plant, transplant, prune, and trim flowers, shrubs, and trees to promote healthy growth and a manicured appearance.

Debris removal:

Regularly blow and collect debris, such as leaves, from walkways, parking lots, and other club areas.

Waste management:

Collect and remove trash and litter from the grounds and empty trash receptacles.

Seasonal duties:

Perform seasonal tasks such as preparing landscapes for different weather conditions, planting new seasonal vegetation, and assisting with snow or ice removal in winter.

Irrigation management:

Monitor and maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of all landscape areas.

Pest and weed control:

Apply pesticides or other chemical treatments for pest and weed management, following all safety protocols.

Equipment operation:

Safely operate and perform minor maintenance on landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools.

Safety compliance:

Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures and ensure the grounds are free of hazards.

Customer service:

Interact professionally and courteously with club members and guests while working on the property.

Inventory management:

Monitor and report landscaping supply needs to a supervisor.

Qualifications and Skills

Education:

A high school diploma or GED is often preferred, but not always required.

Experience:

Previous experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or a related field is preferred.

Technical knowledge:

Knowledge of horticulture, including planting, pruning, and soil preparation techniques.

Mechanical skills:

Proficiency in safely operating landscaping equipment, including gas-powered and hand tools.

Physical stamina:

The ability to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors in various weather conditions, including standing, bending, and lifting heavy objects (e.g., up to 50 lbs).

Attention to detail:

A keen eye for detail to ensure high-quality, neat, and appealing grounds.

Work ethic:

Dependable, trustworthy, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Certification (as needed):

A state-specific pesticide applicator license may be required if handling chemicals.

Communication skills:

Good communication skills to interact with supervisors, colleagues, and club members.

Reporting Structure This position reports to the Director of Agronomy and General Manager.
