Overview
Farmscape is the largest urban farming venture in the country, with headquarters in Los Angeles and Oakland. We design, install, and tend intensive organic vegetable gardens for residences, schools, restaurants, and other organizations. We actively manage 300 gardens in California, turning the city back into a farm one yard at a time!
Location and Details Location: Los Angeles, CA
Schedule: Monday-Friday, onsite hours 7:30am-4:00pm

Job Description
Manage 10-20 farms; design planting layouts, oversee planting calendar, cultivate wide variety of annual vegetables, troubleshoot pest and disease issues, fertilize, fork and amend soil, harvest produce, repair irrigation systems
Work solo, and with a field partner
Maintain fruit trees and edible perennials, including fertilizing, harvesting, pruning, and pest/disease management
Manage consistent weekly schedule, including service logs and client database
Manage inventory for gardens
Maintain good customer relationships, both in-person and via phone/email
Engage in weekly phone and/or in-person check ins with LA Residential Farm Manager
Follow communication procedures, guidelines and expectations
Provide weekly garden updates to clients
Respond to customer concerns in a timely manner and communicate problems upward
Represent Farmscape services in a professional manner
Must be comfortable and willing to drive between multiple locations in greater LA region every work day
Attend staff, service and training meetings as required
Continue to develop expertise and knowledge, communicating to management areas requiring support
Contribute to supportive and accountable work environment
Qualifications
2+ years professional experience with annual vegetable cultivation or combination of professional landscaping work with non-professional vegetable gardening experience
Ability to supervise and lead a small team effectively
Ability to lift 50lbs
Ability to perform manual work, lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time
Ability to perform physical labor outdoors in various weather conditions
Ability to communicate clearly, confidently, and professionally with customers and staff
Ability to learn and adapt to Farmscape best practices
Organizational skills and attention to detail a must
Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance
