Overview Denver Country Club offers a unique opportunity to be the Head Golf Professional at one of the most respected private clubs in the western United States. Founded in 1887, the Denver Country Club is the oldest club west of the Mississippi and has been in Cherry Creek since 1901. The golf course has been shaped by renowned architects including Donald Ross, A.W. Tillinghast, Bill Coore, and Gil Hanse. The Club has hosted prestigious events such as the Trans-Mississippi Amateur, PGA Tour events, and USGA Qualifiers.

Beyond golf, members enjoy tennis, swimming, ice skating, and both casual and formal dining. With over 800 members - 600 of whom have golf privileges - the Club averages 24,000 rounds annually. The strong caddie program includes more than 30 caddies, many of whom have earned Evans Scholarships.

Experience Required 3 years of experience as a Head Golf Professional at a private club.

Minimum Education College degree and an active member of the PGA of America.

Essential Responsibilities

Serve as a mentor and coach to all golf shop and golf services team members.

Create a culture of learning, accountability, and continuous improvement through hands‑on leadership and clear communication.

Identify, develop, and prepare team members for increased responsibility and future leadership roles.

Provide regular feedback, training, and performance evaluations that support individual growth and departmental goals.

Oversee the management of all golf shop operations.

Be responsible for the performance of the golf shop operations and golf services.

Recruit, hire, train, and supervise golf operations staff, including the Golf Experience Manager, Assistant Golf Professionals, Caddie Manager, Director of Player Development, and Lead Outside Service Captain.

Oversee all fiscal responsibilities and performance for the golf operation including planning, budgeting, forecasting, monitoring, corrective financial management and payroll.

Oversee an innovative tournament program that services all member and guests.

Oversee all operational policies, procedures, controls and fee structures.

Be able to react quickly and shift to changing circumstances in a positive and productive manner.

Be the face of the Denver Country Club golf operation.

Develop a culture of excellence with the staff.

Includes recruiting the right candidates to further this mission.

Golf Shop Retail Operation

Retail sales of a full line of golf equipment and apparel.

Work closely with the Golf Shop Merchandiser.

Oversee the special‑order sales program to maximize member service.

Oversee and manage inventory control.

Monitor and manage monthly payables and member charge outs.

Supervise and manage payroll records for all golf shop and outside service personnel.

Club Events and Tournaments

Pre‑plan and prepare for all club events and tournaments.

Conduct staff meetings to ensure each event and tournament is a success.

Coordinate and manage the annual golf calendar in coordination with the Golf Course Superintendent.

Approve all written correspondence, reporting, newsletters, and communications for the golf operations.

As time allows, play golf with the members to create positive relationships.

Enforcement of the established rules and regulations governing the use of the golf course and all practice areas.

Provide golf instruction with the use of video and the latest teaching technology.

Oversee the Director of Player Development and assist in the implementation of all player development programs.

Monitor and control pace of play standards using Tag Marshal.

Represent Denver Country Club in local and section events.

As the Head Golf Professional at Denver Country Club, you will be forward facing and around members and guests every day. Expectations are set at a high level, making it vital for this individual to think on his/her feet and be accommodating to the many wants and needs of the membership throughout each day.

Technical Skills

Above average typing and creative writing skills.

Proficient in Golf Genius Tournament software.

Proficient in Golf Shop Genius.

Proficient in Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, Publisher.

Familiar with Tag Marshal pace of play software.

Proficient in Northstar POS software.

Familiar with Indoor Simulators operations.

Solid understanding of all mechanical aspects of the game and be comfortable in the instruction arena.

Other Special Training and/or Abilities

Formal training in golf instruction.
