Qualified candidates will thrive in a hospitality environment and be highly focused on providing superior service for our guests. The golf services staff works closely with the Head Golf Professional and the Assistant Golf Professionals on the outside golf operations to assure an exceptional experience for members and their guests. Primary responsibility falls on service to members, efficiency of bag loading onto carts, cleanliness, staging, and storing. The employee must have excellent listening skills and an eagerness to provide excellent service. Must be flexible in meeting the varying scheduling needs of the Club and may be required to work additional hours than scheduled, if necessary. All staff must be neat and well-groomed. This position requires a highly self-motivated individual who can work with minimal supervision.

Job Summary Golf Buyer / Merchandiser Job Summary
Assist the Head Golf Professional in buying merchandise to stock the golf shop. Be familiar with the buying habits of the members and the current clothing trends and fashions. Keep the golf shop displays fresh, professional, and arranged. Provide outstanding customer service to Denver Country Club members and guests.
Principal Duties
Assist the Head Golf Professional in every phase of buying softgoods for the Golf Shop.
Assist the Head Golf Professional and Controller with the budgeting process.
Prepare and organize all purchase orders for all soft goods and track in Golf Shop Genius.
Attend national PGA and local merchandise shows.
Investigate and attend ladies apparel markets.
Develop and follow an Open to Buy program as closely as possible.
Seek out new merchandise trends and fashions.
Spend the majority of time during the season in the Golf Shop to:
Take the lead regarding all merchandise sales.
Provide leadership to all other staff and lead by example.
Get to know the Members and their tastes.
Get comments and opinions from members on current and new clothing lines.
Change displays and adapt them to seasons or holidays.
Investigate new promotions, trunk shows, and special sales outlets.
Assist the Head Golf Professional in local and national merit awards.
Submit Golf Shop AGM Top 100 essay annually.
Create and maintain good working relationships with all vendor reps.
Create and maintain preferred customer database and buying habits.
Schedule and organize product/apparel training sessions for golf shop staff.
Meet with the Head Golf Professional weekly to:
Discuss pending orders.
What is coming in
What is selling, what is not selling?
Run any sales promotions.
Open To Buy update.
Lead physical inventories per the annual schedule.
Answer phones as needed.
Learn the club policies pertinent to the golf operation – tee time rules, how to book a tee time, etc.
Become fluent with the Northstar software and POS system.
Be available to help other staff during busy times and during club events.
Work closely and effectively with all of golf shop staff and other department heads.
Follow a merchandise budget and explain variances, reconcile with club accountant on a monthly basis.
Prepare for any pertinent inventory reducing measures.
Reach goals for inventory levels by the end of the fiscal year.
Create group sales for Denver Country Club members through soft marketing.
Qualifications / Expertise
Should be able to interact with people in a courteous and professional manner.
Must become familiar with the buying habits of the membership.
Must be familiar with current clothing trends and new fashions.
Should process strong communication skills.
Be able to work closely with golf shop staff.
Reporting Structure
Work closely with the Head Golf Professional, Golf Shop Staff, and General Manager
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, including throughout the golf season, while assisting members and maintaining merchandise displays.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull merchandise, boxes, and display fixtures weighing up to 30 pounds.
Ability to bend, reach, kneel, and climb step stools or ladders to stock shelves, change displays, and manage inventory.
Ability to perform repetitive motions such as folding, tagging, steaming, and organizing apparel.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and move quickly between the golf shop, storage areas, and other club locations as needed.
Ability to use a computer, point-of-sale system, and office equipment for extended periods.
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with members, guests, vendors, and staff in person and over the phone.
Ability to travel occasionally for merchandise shows, markets, and vendor meetings.
Ability to work varying schedules, including weekends, holidays, and extended hours during peak golf season or club events.
