About this Role
Elemental Impact is actively seeking a seasoned Director of Public Relations to join its Communications & Creative team. This pivotal role is designed to elevate the organization’s external communication strategy by crafting and executing high‑impact media, storytelling, and thought leadership initiatives. Serving as a key spokesperson, the director will work to enhance the visibility of Elemental Impact, its portfolio companies, and the broader climate innovation ecosystem. Reporting to the VP of Communications, the Director of Public Relations will collaborate closely with senior leadership, providing media strategy and coaching to portfolio companies. The role demands a strong ability to manage proactive and reactive engagement strategies across various media channels. The Director will ensure that communications reflect Elemental’s core values, which include joyful work, growth mindset, kuleana (responsibility), and humble spirit. The director plays a strategic, high‑visibility role within the organization, shaping how donors, policymakers, and partners understand and engage with Elemental’s mission.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute communications strategies to enhance Elemental’s profile across media, donors, and ecosystem stakeholders.
- Lead media strategy, including crafting press releases, op‑eds, and managing media briefings.
- Engage reporters covering technology, climate, and social impact sectors to amplify Elemental’s initiatives.
- Leverage new media platforms, including influencers and independent outlets.
- Manage awards submissions and monitor media coverage, providing strategic analysis.
- Support key convenings and events related to Elemental’s brand positioning and portfolio companies.
- Provide strategic media and communications coaching to Elemental’s portfolio companies.
- Oversee narrative and messaging development for portfolio companies.
Requirements
- Experience as a press secretary or media director in government, advocacy, climate tech, or similar organizations.
- Proven ability to manage complex communications strategies and engaging with national media.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to multi‑task and meet changing deadlines.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
- Experience with media campaigns that elevate organizational impact.
