About this Role Elemental is seeking a dynamic and seasoned senior leader to join its Investments and Innovation team. This hands-on role involves collaborating with a small team to manage and develop a portfolio of companies in the energy and built environment sectors, with a particular emphasis on data centers. The director will engage with startup executives and funding partners, support the creation of investment themes, and guide the execution of transformative projects within portfolio companies. This person will play a key role in fostering partnerships, leading thought leadership initiatives, and expanding the organization’s presence through public speaking and community engagement. This strategic position requires someone who can work thoughtfully with various stakeholders to drive meaningful impact and catalyze growth and innovation in the climate technology sector.
Directly support Elemental portfolio companies across the energy and built environment sectors.
Co-design and manage transformational projects for portfolio companies.
Perform asset management functions, including performance monitoring and reporting.
Oversee the sourcing and diligence of new and follow-on funding opportunities.
Guide the development and evolution of investment strategy and theses.
Provide strategic guidance for organization-wide initiatives.
Serve as a thought leader at industry and company events.
Maintain strong relationships with investors, corporates, and stakeholders.
Support portfolio storytelling and communications efforts.
Lead and manage members of the Portfolio & Investment team.
Requirements
Interest and experience in energy and built environment sectors or data centers.
Experience in startups or venture capital, accelerators, or similar organizations.
Familiarity with project development in data center contexts.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Experience in deploying technology within communities.
Creative problem-solving capabilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
