Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Associate Director of Security Systems Technology (AD‑SST). The Associate Director reports to the Senior Director of Security at the Manhattan Campus and serves as an integral component in the strategic planning and support of all NYULH Security Departments System Managers. The role also serves as the primary liaison to the Medical Center Information Technology (MCIT) Division. The AD‑SST provides leadership, oversight, and direction of enterprise‑wide access controls, video monitoring, and related audit frameworks across all campuses within the healthcare system. The AD‑SST designs, implements, monitors, and audits security system access controls and protocols to ensure alignment and compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements. The AD‑SST collaborates closely with MCIT and third‑party system administrators to establish, review, and upgrade a cohesive, resilient, and best‑in‑class security system posture across the enterprise.

Job Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and maintain a systemwide access control and security technology strategy consistent with organizational security goals, regulatory requirements, and risk management objectives.
  • Provide strategic oversight of all access control and security technology systems across the enterprise, including role‑based access control measures.
  • Align systemwide policies and procedures to ensure consistent enforcement of access control standards and protocols across all healthcare campuses and off‑site locations.

Access Control Design, Oversight, Auditing, and Compliance

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve enterprise access control systems that govern physical campus security and the video management system network.
  • Collaborate with MCIT, badge operations, and system administrators/integrators across the enterprise to ensure proper provisioning, de‑provisioning, and access validation processes for employees, contractors, and third‑party vendors.
  • Establish governance and quality control measures for the organization's access control measures, including sensitive/restricted security access accounts and levels.
  • Lead systemwide auditing of security systems access controls and user permissions to verify compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and report on audit findings, track remediation activities, and ensure timely resolution of identified gaps.

Systemwide Alignment, Quality Control, and Improvement

  • Coordinate the standardization of access control technologies, processes, and documentation across all campuses to achieve a unified security posture.
  • Conduct systemwide assessments and benchmarking to identify inconsistencies, inefficiencies, or outdated configurations.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies and best practices for security access governance and automated identity verification.
  • Maintain a central repository of access control policies and audit documentation for accuracy, to support transparency, and ensure readiness.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Serve as the primary liaison to enterprise MCIT to ensure that access control requirements are incorporated into all new system implementations and upgrades.
  • Provide leadership, training, and guidance to campus system managers on proper access control system maintenance and audit practices.
  • Communicate audit results, risk findings, and mitigation strategies to senior leadership.

Additional Position Specific Responsibilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in access control management, preferably within a large healthcare or academic medical center.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and auditing enterprise‑level access control systems and policies.
  • Proven ability to coordinate cross‑functional teams across multiple campuses.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant Security Systems experience in healthcare or academic medical center.
  • Experience integrating physical and access control systems.

Salary Transparency

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $97,589.96 – $168,342.49 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses, incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
