A multibillion‑dollar, publicly traded global manufacturer is advancing a major modernization of its Finance organization and is seeking a Senior Director, Investor Relations to architect and lead a highly visible IR function. This leader will own both strategic direction and day‑to‑day execution, operate as a direct advisor to senior leadership, and build out an IR team as the function scales.

Based out of the company’s renovated, amenity‑rich headquarters in Chicago’s northern suburbs, this role serves as a primary ambassador to the investment community—shaping the external narrative, strengthening market credibility, and partnering closely with the CFO, CEO, and a well‑resourced FP&A organization to engage targeted investors with precision and impact.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic IR Planning & Execution

  • Develop and execute the IR strategy and annual plan
  • Integrate inputs across Finance, Communications, and Marketing
  • Prepare materials and participate in investor events
  • Lead communications around financial results and strategic updates
  • Ensure accuracy and alignment of all investor materials
  • Monitor industry trends, peer performance, and market sentiment
  • Track and summarize sell‑side reports
  • Provide insights on shareholder composition and analyst coverage
  • Lead the quarterly earnings process
  • Maintain fluency in analyst models and valuation methodologies
  • Manage IR data systems and analytics

Relationship Management

  • Strengthen relationships with current shareholders and analysts
  • Identify and engage prospective investors
  • Coordinate with financial media as needed

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with SEC and exchange requirements
  • Maintain accuracy, transparency, and ethical standards in all disclosures

Must‑Have Qualifications

  • 5+ years dedicated Investor Relations experience
  • Experience in a large publicly traded company ($500M+ revenue)
  • Executive presence and strong communication capabilities
  • Hands‑on operator; comfortable doing tactical work
  • Stable career progression
  • Able to operate independently during organizational transition
  • Background in corporate FP&A
  • Senior Director/Director level (VP considered if aligned)
  • MBA and/or CFA
  • Roadshow participation or leadership experience
  • Experience building an IR or FP&A team

Compensation

  • Bonus: 25% target + equity

Work Arrangement

  • Hybrid: North suburban Chicago headquarters
  • In‑office: Tuesday–Thursday (occasional Monday for leadership meetings)
  • Remote: Monday and Friday
  • Travel: <15% for investor events
  • Shuttle: Available from nearby Metra station

Available paid leave includes Personal Time Off (PTO) on an accrual basis up to 152 hours a year, 10 Paid Holidays, 1 Community Service Day, and up to 6 weeks of Paid Parental Leave. PTO and holiday hours are prorated based on hire date within the calendar year. Paid Sick Leave is provided where required by state law.
