has an exciting opportunity for a Vice President of Business Excellence . This executive‑level role, based in Lexington, KY , reports directly to the President & Chief Executive Officer of Gray Construction.

Position Summary
The Vice President of Business Excellence is responsible for designing, deploying, and sustaining the organization’s Business Excellence Operating Model. This role drives continuous improvement, operational performance, quality management, and change adoption across all areas of operations, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives/initiatives and measurable business outcomes.
What we expect…
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
Lead and govern Business Excellence program and strategic projects with established benefits realization tracking and value measurement.
Design, build, and deploy a comprehensive TQMS that establishes quality standards, processes, and controls across the entire design‑build lifecycle.
Oversight of company‑wide continuous improvement, including standardized process development, improvement, and governance, Lean and Six Sigma deployment and certification programs (Green Belt, Black Belt, Master Black Belt).
Drive the culture of process optimization, waste elimination, and productivity improvements across functions.
Collaborate and provide guidance on learning and development programs for improvement methodologies.
Lead organizational change and process adoption using structured change frameworks to support transformation initiatives.
Promote knowledge management, best‑practice sharing, and continuous learning.
Drive culture transformation initiatives focused on accountability, performance, and excellence.
Ability to collaborate across multiple teams and levels of leadership
Business Performance Management
Design and govern KPI frameworks aligned with business excellence and strategic priorities.
Lead Scorecard implementation and ongoing performance reviews.
Drive systematic improvement recommendations and performance insights for the business operating system ensuring alignment to strategic goals and objectives.
Oversee business performance analytics and produce executive reporting.
Quality Management
Oversee the Total Quality Management System (TQMS).
Ensure regulatory and standards compliance across internal and external audits.
Lead standards certification efforts (e.g., ISO 9001).
Drive root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action processes.
Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications Who we want…
Bachelor’s degree from four‑year college or university and a minimum of fifteen (15) years experience in operational or business excellence; or the equivalent combination of both education and experience.
Minimum of ten (10) years management experience.
Strong background in quality management systems and audit standards. Experience in Total Quality Management System (TQMS) is preferred.
Proven experience leading enterprise transformation and performance management systems.
Must possess strategic thinking, execution leadership, data‑driven decision making and advanced analytical skills
Must possess basic computer skills including the ability to utilize word processing, spreadsheets, software and e‑mail. The selected candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Occasional travel may be required.
This person must be physically present in the Lexington office with potential for a hybrid work schedule.

This position will have direct supervision of other team members within strategy, continuous improvement and TQMS functions.
