We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator with strong expertise in performance tuning to manage, optimize, and support mission-critical Oracle database environments. The ideal candidate will ensure high availability, reliability, and optimal performance of databases across development, test, and production environments.
Overview The Oracle Database Administrator will ensure database health, performance, and reliability across environments, through tuning, monitoring, backup and recovery, and high availability strategies.
Responsibilities
Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Oracle databases (11g/12c/19c and above).
Perform advanced database performance tuning at SQL, schema, and instance levels.
Monitor database health, capacity, and performance using AWR, ASH, ADDM, and OEM.
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks related to CPU, memory, I/O, and locking.
Tune complex SQL queries, indexes, execution plans, and database parameters.
Manage backup and recovery using RMAN; ensure disaster recovery readiness.
Implement and manage high availability solutions such as Data Guard and RAC (if applicable).
Perform database security administration: user management, roles, privileges, and auditing.
Support application teams in schema design, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
Perform patching, upgrades, and migrations with minimal downtime.
Automate routine DBA tasks using shell scripts/PLSQL.
Participate in on-call support and production issue resolution.
Required Skills & Experience
6+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA in enterprise environments.
Strong hands-on experience in performance tuning and optimization.
Deep understanding of:
Oracle architecture and internals
SQL tuning, execution plans, statistics, and optimizer behavior
AWR, ASH, ADDM, SQL Trace, TKPROF
Expertise in RMAN backup and recovery.
Experience with Oracle RAC and Data Guard (preferred).
Proficiency in Unix/Linux administration and shell scripting.
Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification.
Experience with large-scale, high-volume OLTP systems.
Exposure to cloud databases (OCI, AWS RDS for Oracle, Azure).
Experience with automation tools and monitoring frameworks.
