Position Summary:
The Senior Creative/Web Specialist – Art Director is responsible for conceptualizing, directing, and designing high-quality brand advertising, product marketing, and customer- and employee-facing communications. This role partners closely with copywriters, account managers, UX professionals, and creative leadership to deliver strategic, on-brand work that supports Duke Energy’s business objectives and aligns with Creative Director expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver creative, effective communications aligned with Duke Energy brand standards and voice
Translate client strategies, key messages, target audiences, and goals into compelling creative solutions
Produce work that is consistently on time and within budget
Collaborate cross-functionally with copywriters, account managers, UX professionals, and creative teams
Design and develop assets across multiple channels, including:
Paid media:
video, audio, animation, digital ads, social media
Email and web:
including Figma workflows
Direct mail and print advertising
Present creative concepts and materials to clients; incorporate feedback professionally and constructively
Maintain strong attention to detail from project kickoff through final delivery and file archiving
Work within established workflows and project management systems
Provide guidance on effective messaging and proper application of Duke Energy’s style guide and brand voice
Stay current with design tools, creative methodologies, and industry best practices
Perform other related duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
Extensive experience in art direction and design across graphic, web, mobile, video/broadcast, and motion/animation
Strong art direction and design portfolio
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and presentation tools (PowerPoint, Keynote)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience producing advertising, marketing, corporate, or customer-facing materials
Recent experience developing integrated, multi-channel communication campaigns
Strong conceptual thinking and ideation skills
Excellent presentation and communication skills
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Demonstrated commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work aligned with brand standards
Knowledge of current communication and design best practices
Collaborative, adaptable, team-oriented mindset
Familiarity with major social platforms (X, YouTube, LinkedIn, Meta)
Experience with:
Microsoft SharePoint (document storage/management)
Workamajig (project management and time tracking)
10+ years of relevant professional experience
