Job Description The Wall Street Journal's Features & WSJ. Magazine team is seeking a dynamic and experienced news editor to work across its Mansion and Fashion/Style teams, editing daily coverage and features and helping shepherd reporters to publish lively stories and trend pieces across both bureaus.

Responsibilities

Edit and shepherd multiple stories per week from Mansion and Fashion/Style reporters, collaborating with the bureau chief of each team.

Create highly shareable, witty, ambitious story ideas with clear news value and assign them into the news cycle.

Maintain a fast metabolism for story edits and a “run toward the fire” mentality to keep up with key stories.

Bulletproof fast‑moving news stories on deadline, ensuring sourcing, legal, and ethical rigor meets newsroom standards.

Modulate between editing fast news, surprising feature stories, and whimsical essays or interviews, embodying the Weekend and WSJ. Magazine mission to inform and entertain.

Collaborate egolessly with other Weekend editors, reporters, and editors across the newsroom.

Amplify traditional profiles, trends, or event stories with humanizing detail and an eye for shareable, well‑crafted narrative that may lead to WSJ. Magazine inclusion.

Embrace audience data, learning, and metrics to fuse with great taste and imaginative ideas.

Ensure top‑tier execution and ethical standards of the Wall Street Journal and WSJ. Magazine are consistently met.

Requirements

4 to 8 years experience as a news editor on lifestyle or similar topics, including essays, columns, and feature stories.

Exceptional display skills and a sophisticated understanding of grabbing audience attention across platforms.

A proven history of finding unexpected takes on the lifestyle world with an eye for elevated cultural and visually sumptuous stories.

Good contacts with freelancers and a dogged, indefatigable sense of how to make stories happen.

A sense of humor and the ability to find clever, intelligent angles for widely covered stories.

A meticulous approach to facts and details, pushing the team to avoid errors.

Visual thinking and a vested interest in how stories present across platforms.

A collaborative, team‑player attitude, upbeat outlook, and entrepreneurial spirit.

Benefits and Compensation Pay Range: $120,000 - $145,000. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including physical health, retirement, caregiving, emotional wellbeing, transportation, and elective benefits.
