Here, you’ll find a collaborative culture that respects and values differences and colleagues who share a spirit of generosity. **Role Summary**As a senior technology leader within the Data Engineering organization, the Director of Software Engineering is responsible for shaping and executing the strategy that drives our data engineering capabilities—enabling enhanced investment, risk management, and client outcomes. This role demands both a deep technical background and strong leadership skills, operating at the intersection of engineering innovation, data architecture, and business value delivery.**Responsibilities*** Develop and own the technical and delivery strategy for data engineering platforms, data products, and analytics applications, ensuring alignment with the firm’s enterprise data and technology architecture.* Lead, mentor, and retain high-performing engineering leaders, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.* Establish and uphold consistent engineering standards, architectural best practices, and operational rigor across teams.* Ensure timely and reliable delivery of data pipelines, platforms, and analytics-ready data products.* Collaborate with architecture and security teams to deliver scalable, resilient, compliant, and cost-efficient solutions.* Serve as a key partner to investment, risk, and distribution stakeholders, translating business objectives into technical direction.* Advocate for modern engineering practices, including agile methodologies, DevOps, automation, and continuous process improvement.* Provide strategic input on vendor selection, build vs. buy decisions, and cloud cost management.**Core Capabilities & Attributes*** Experienced engineering leader with credibility and presence to influence at director and executive levels.* Effective people manager who coaches leaders, builds succession plans, and sets high standards for performance and conduct.* Pragmatic technologist with a focus on simplicity, business value, and long-term sustainability.* Comfortable navigating ambiguity, balancing strategic vision with hands-on problem-solving.* Collaborative leader who can constructively challenge and inspire teams.**Technical & Domain Expertise*** Extensive experience in data and platform engineering within modern, cloud-based data environments.* Strong understanding of lakehouse and analytical data architectures (e.g., Snowflake, Apache Iceberg, Spark, dbt, Airflow/Dagster).* Proven track record of building and managing large-scale AWS-based data platforms.* Solid grounding in software engineering principles: system design, data modeling, reliability, and security.**Qualifications****Required:*** Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent professional experience.* 10+ years in software and data engineering, with significant leadership responsibility over engineering teams and leaders.* Demonstrated success managing complex delivery portfolios in regulated or mission-critical settings.* Prior hands-on engineering experience, with the ability to engage deeply in architectural and design discussions as needed.**Preferred:*** Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics* Experience within buy-side financial services and familiarity with market data, investment data, and regulatory requirements.**FINRA Requirements**FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.**Work Flexibility**This role is eligible for hybrid work, with up to three days per week from home.Placement within the range provided above is based on the individual’s relevant experience and skills for the role.

Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package.
