About The Role As a Director in our Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) sector, you will take an active role in running the internal operations of the team, supporting new business pursuits and servicing client accounts. This person will align with Tech sector and our Public Affairs team. FTI Consulting’s Public Affairs practice partners with our clients to manage and execute multi-stakeholder communications activities requiring knowledge of the media, political landscape, and public policy issues. A successful Director is a motivated and detail-oriented individual who is hungry to learn new skills and help not just manage projects but play a pivotal role in execution. In this role you will work closely with clients and internal teams to create and maintain project plans and monitor quality control and timeliness of deliverables, while also providing input into the strategy and rollout of various internal and external initiatives. The ideal candidate isn’t just an effective project manager, but a strategic and critical thinker who can collaborate, manage multiple projects and teams, and communicate effectively in both verbal and written form. This person will play a pivotal role in the development and growth of the team. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: What You’ll Do

Level Up the Team

— Apply critical thinking skills to monitor, analyze, and flag opportunities for the team to grow their understanding of trending topics in technology and applications in the real world. Follow and analyze moves of policymakers and regulatory bodies that influence technology policy. Develop and disseminate regular internal communications for the team, including newsletters, policy or trending topics notes, and flags for Public Affairs leadership. Keep the team organized and efficient by owning internal team processes, managing project timelines, keeping internal and external-facing documents updated, and tracking performance KPIs. Provide leadership and mentorship to junior staff; effectively manage individuals and teams and foster a positive team culture. Take a leadership role in thought leadership, product offerings, trainings, and mentorship. Business Development

— Translate industry trends and developments into actionable opportunities; develop a deep understanding of Strategic Communications service offerings and be proficient enough to discuss them fluently in client situations. Collaborate to produce business pitch materials and participate in new business processes and pitches. Develop internal and external relationships with reporters, communications professionals, and policy experts to build your personal network and the FTI brand. Client Service

— Serve as a day-to-day client contact for select accounts; project manage client workstreams and projects, and manage the overall quality of work on multiple accounts by demonstrating professional and team leadership. Write and edit a variety of materials (memos, policy documents, press releases, presentations, emails, media pitches, online content). Demonstrate an understanding of client information, including business strategy, services, stakeholders and competitive landscape. Deliver high-quality work focused on client needs and create client-ready deliverables in a timely and efficient manner. Proactively anticipate client needs and contribute to team counsel for clients about policy, industry, company, and market developments. Identify resource needs and work with account leaders, project managers and other leaders to assign responsibilities. Support billing procedures to ensure timely and accurate delivery of client invoices. How You’ll Grow

What You’ll Need to Succeed Desired Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field Five to seven years of work experience in-house, at a communications agency and/or state/federal government experience Superior public policy, writing, editing, and research skills Proven project management track record and comfort in managing and working with staff at all levels Prior technology experience, including familiarity with handling major company milestones such as an IPO or capital raise; financial communications experience is a bonus High proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and experience effectively using generative AI tools Experience developing and executing strategies to raise a client’s profile, balance negative coverage, or provide decision-makers with sharp policy analysis to drive positive outcomes Track record of managing communications with diverse stakeholders in politically charged or crisis situations A hunger to learn and curiosity about technology and the forces shaping it Ability to work under deadlines across multiple projects and remain calm for clients and team members Excellent organizational, written and verbal presentation skills This role may require occasional travel to clients and FTI offices Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; visa sponsorship is not provided About FTI Consulting FTI Consulting is the leading global expert firm for organizations facing crisis and transformation, with more than 7,900 employees in 32 countries.
