Assistant Director, Services & Supports – Early Childhood Job Summary:
Directs in a person-centered way the work of the Services & Supports EarlyChildhood Department in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. Directly supervises Services & Supports Managers. In conjunction with the Director of Services & Supports, will assume leadership and coordination responsibility for Person-Centered Planning initiatives and federal revenues mandated requirements. Will consider exceptions to the TCADD service polices, oversee any appeals, direct mediations or state level fair hearings, and represent TCRC to the community, partner organizations, individuals and families, public agencies, and Area Board IX. Specific Job Duties:
Assigns, reviews, and evaluates work of managers in his/her work Hires, trains, directs, and evaluates Services & Supports Works independently and interdepartmentally to resolve service Represents the Services & Supports Managers he/she manages and/or TCRC in interagency problem resolution. Monitors case transfers both within TCRC and from other Regional Participates in planning and developing agency policies and Communicates policies and procedure information to management and staff. Trains staff in policy application and Audits results for conformance. Considers exceptions to the TCADD service policies, oversees any Directs any informal hearings, mediations, appeals, or state level fair Compiles/prepares reports on Participates in management group Represents the employees and/or TCRC in transactions with state and local agencies, service providers, individuals, families, and community groups. Work with Facilities/Purchasing Manager in design of new May serve as staff support for committees of the Board of May be assigned to serve as acting Director of Services & Supports in the Director’s Insures area of responsibility stays within budget Serves as a Strategic Plan Focus Leader and leads PCT in his/her area Attends and participates in monthly Directors meetings Additional duties as Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Knowledge of developmental disabilities Knowledge of Regional Center service systems Awareness of entitlement and benefit programs and of public benefit programs Staff leadership and supervision Creative problem-solving ability Ability to make verbal and written presentations to groups Organizational and time management skills Excellent oral and written communication Works effectively with diverse groups Education and Experience:
Strongly prefer a Master’s degree in social work or related field and license or license eligibility
(LCSW, MFT). A Bachelor’s degree and five years of directly related experience may be substituted for the Master’s degree. Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in human services field or a related area, with 2 years of applicable experience in mental health or social Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred. Valid California driver’s license and reliable, insured vehicle or equivalent means of transportation. Able to travel to any location at any time; Local and in-state travel is Physical Requirements:
Position requires the ability to work independently. Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer. This is primarily a sedentary office classification. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement, finger dexterity and fine coordination in preparing statistical reports and data using a computer keyboard and calculator. Additionally, the position requires near, far, and color vision in reading correspondence, statistical data, and using the computer. Hearing and speech are required to communicate in person, before groups and over the telephone. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects necessary to perform job functions. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and infrequently up to 20 lbs. The position requires standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping in the performance of daily office activities. Work is performed in an office setting with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees may encounter upset individuals over the phone and/or in person. Each of these physical tasks is an essential function of the position.
