This role plays a critical leadership role in advancing Advocate Health’s strategic priorities by driving the planning, execution, and performance management of high-impact growth and business optimization initiatives. This individual serves as a thought partner, architect, and activation expert across a portfolio of enterprise priorities, with leadership responsibility in one or more of the following domains: academics, innovation, strategic partnerships, data / analytics, artificial intelligence and portfolio management for enterprise growth and business optimization initiatives. Requires exceptional strategic thinking, cross-functional collaboration, and execution discipline; will drive complex initiatives that span multiple business units and domains, often operating in ambiguous and high-stakes environments. Through deep partnership with stakeholders across clinical, academic, digital, IT, operational, clinical and financial teams, the Lead helps translate strategy into results that drive enterprise transformation and growth.
Major Responsibilities:
Leads and manages the execution of complex, enterprise-wide initiatives aligned with Advocate Health’s strategic growth, business performance and transformation agenda.
Translates strategic objectives into clearly defined workstreams with accountable owners, deliverables, timelines, and performance metrics.
Applies structured, insight-driven approaches to define business problems, design solutions, and drive measurable outcomes.
Synthesizes qualitative and quantitative insights to support strategic recommendations, business cases, and executive decision-making.
Prepares and presents high-quality deliverables, including briefings, presentations, and reports for senior leadership.
Serves as a strategic advisor and connector across the enterprise, cultivating effective working relationships with clinical, shared service, academic, digital, data/analytics, and operational stakeholders.
Leads and facilitates cross-functional teams to ensure aligned execution of strategic initiatives.
Supports governance processes and communication structures that promote visibility, accountability, and informed decision-making across the enterprise.
Academics & Research: Collaborates with academic senior leaders to advance enterprise academic plans in the areas of education and workforce innovation, research (basic science, clinical and clinical trial) academic relationships and translation at scale, ensuring connections to other strategic initiatives, enterprise assets and opportunities and driving academic impact.
Innovation & Strategic Partnerships: Partners with enterprise service teams to accelerate the development and integration of new solutions and partnerships, and supports execution of external partnerships aligned with enterprise goals.
Data, Analytics & AI: Works with enterprise data and technology leaders to shape and scale high-impact data products, AI tools, and analytic platforms that support strategic decision-making and drive innovation.
Growth & Business Optimization Portfolio Management: Leads the design, governance, and continuous refinement of an enterprise portfolio of initiatives, ensuring strategic alignment, resource optimization, and enterprise impact.
Contributes to the development and deployment of tools, processes, and templates that support consistent and effective execution of enterprise strategy.
Builds internal capacity for strategic execution through knowledge sharing, process improvement, and collaboration.
Mentors team members and supports the overall maturity and growth of the strategy function.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
None
Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in business, health administration, public health, or related field preferred.
Experience Required:
Typically requires 10 years of leadership experience in academic health systems, innovation, partnerships, or strategic planning.
Experience in cross-functional leadership and initiative management in complex organizations.
Familiarity with academic medical center operations, innovation pipelines, and data/technology solutions.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Understanding of enterprise growth strategy, portfolio management, and transformation frameworks.
Sound financial and business acumen with the ability to develop and analyze business cases, and ROI analyses.
Working knowledge of data and analytics, governance, and advanced analytics/AI capabilities.
Collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills; able to influence within a matrixed organization.
Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into executable roadmaps and measurable outcomes.
Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and project management skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, including executive-level presentation.
