Commercial Loan Officer Putnam County Bank – Hurricane, WV

Position Overview The Commercial Loan Officer develops, manages, and grows a portfolio of commercial lending relationships while maintaining strong credit quality and compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements. This role is relationship‑driven and focused on serving businesses within the bank’s local market.

Key Responsibilities

Develop new commercial lending relationships through referrals, networking, and active community involvement.

Manage and grow an existing portfolio of commercial loans and deposits.

Serve as a trusted financial advisor by understanding customer operations, goals, and credit needs.

Cross‑sell appropriate bank products and services in collaboration with other bank departments.

Analyze financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, and collateral to assess creditworthiness.

Structure commercial loan requests that align with customer needs while adhering to the bank’s credit standards.

Prepare and present loan requests, credit memorandums, and risk assessments for approval.

Monitor loan performance and take proactive steps to address potential credit concerns.

Conduct regular relationship reviews and maintain accurate, complete loan documentation.

Ensure compliance with all bank policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Monitor covenant compliance, financial reporting requirements, and collateral values.

Work with credit administration and loan operations to ensure timely processing and servicing of loans.

Maintain a strong presence in the local market through civic involvement, business organizations, and community events.

Stay informed of local economic conditions, industry trends, and competitive factors affecting the market.

Represent the bank professionally and positively within the community.

Requirements Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Minimum of 3–5 years of commercial lending or related banking experience.

Demonstrated experience and established relationships within the local market.

Strong knowledge of commercial credit analysis, loan structuring, and financial statement analysis.

Working knowledge of banking regulations and compliance standards.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience at a community bank or similar financial institution.

Existing portfolio of commercial relationships within the local market.

Formal credit training or lending certifications.

Skills & Competencies

Work Environment & Expectations

Office‑based with regular travel within the local market for client meetings and business development.
