Position: Broadband Specialist V

Position Overview

The Broadband Specialist V has a primary focus on commercial installation and trouble calls. Will also complete installations of video, internet, phone service and Home Controller to residential and commercial customers as required. They also complete disconnects, audit of services and service changes for residential customers as required. Company Benefits

May perform all duties of Broadband Specialist I-IV descriptions. Primarily focused on performing trouble calls installations for commercial customers; troubleshoot common system and drop line faults and corrects outside distribution problems of all kinds; calculate signal level losses, insertion losses, cable losses, taps and splitter devices of all distribution lines; use VOM or DMM to check shorts, opens and voltages; use available test equipment to locate underground cables and determine cable faults. Perform installations, audits, requested and non-pay disconnects, CLI for residential and commercial customers; add outlets; install and/or removes converts; perform upgrades and downgrades of service. Drive company vehicles in performance of job duties; use bucket truck when required. Responsible for vehicle upkeep and housekeeping. Maintain stock of CPE and installation materials; maintain PPE. Generate additional company revenue through effective sales techniques and by offering information about product options, sales campaigns and promotions. Manipulate connectors, fasteners and wire and uses hand tools. Climb poles with proper equipment (safety belt, safety strap and climbers), ladders or other structures as needed. Lift and carry loads up to 100lbs (including line ladder); Work within limited confines, such as crawl spaces. Perform other duties such as clean-up and salvage of wrecked out materials; provide general assistance to other employees as directed. On-call duty may be required. Perform installations and changes of service, while adhering to: applicable codes, requirements, guidelines, company procedures and safe work practices in order to provide an outstanding customer experience. Position Requirements

High school diploma or GED required. Valid driver’s license; satisfactory driving record required. Required - Minimum of 6 months’ time spent as Broadband Specialist IV or 7+ years’ equivalent cable technician experience. Preferred – 18 months’ tenure as a Mediacom BBS IV or equivalent experience. Knowledge of all Broadband Specialist I-IV responsibilities, basic commercial installs and service calls along with Home Controller. Knowledge of Commercial Fiber PRI and Managed Voice installation and trouble shooting. Advanced level of mechanical and consumer devices knowledge. Ability to interact and communicate with customers and co-workers. Ability to work in high or tight spaces. Ability to work in all weather conditions and at various heights. Ability to work flexible work hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime as required. Ability to trouble shoot customer premise equipment and cable issues Physical Requirements

Physical effort represented by frequent handling of heavy objects (approx. 50-100 lbs.) and materials, or heavy hand tools. Get to know us:
