
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Chief Communications Officer (CCO) is responsible for developing and leading Delta Zeta’s corporate communications philosophy and strategy. This role ensures the execution of consistent messaging across the corporation (Sorority, Foundation and National Housing Corporation), advancing the Sorority’s mission, vision, values and strategic priorities, assuring high-quality content and operationalizing the communications strategy.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Communications Strategy and Reporting
Create communications plans that support and reinforce Delta Zeta’s strategic priorities, organizationalgoalsand annual priorities.
Monitor and report on communications performance.
Content LeadershipandExecution
Serve as Delta Zeta’s primary writing and editorial authority, ensuring continuity in voice, tone, brandstandardsand messaging.
Oversee content calendars and project management workflow to ensure timely, coordinated and high-quality outputs.
BrandandMessaging Stewardship
Protect and strengthen the Delta Zeta brand through ensuring visual identity, messaging standardsand editorial guidelinesare followed across the organization.
Ensure consistency and professionalism acrossall channels, including existing and future print, digital, social,emailand external media.
LeadershipandCollaboration
Lead,mentorand manage communications staff, providing annual performance reviewsandgoals.
Collaborate cross-functionally among entitiesto deliver cohesive communications.
Leverage industry best practices to offer guidance on messaging, tone and audience engagement.
External CommunicationsandReputation Management
Oversee media relations, publicstatementsand external messaging in alignment with organizational guidance and leadership direction.
Ensure Delta Zeta’s public presencereflectsthe organization’s six core values of friendship, community, generosity,curiosity, empowerment and belonging.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, ora relatedfield.
8–10+ years of progressive experience in communicationsmanagement andleadership.
Exceptional writing and editing skills with ademonstratedability to lead editorial processes and content teams.Proven experience directing complex, multi-channel communications projects from conception through execution.
Proven experience in team building and leadership.
Strong understanding of brand management, messagingframeworksand audience segmentation.
Experience managing external agencies,freelancersor creative vendors.
