
Overview
E! News is looking for an experienced and passionate Weekend Producer/Editor to lead our weekend video coverage. This role will be responsible for a digital-first storyteller approach, owning the process from end to end: pitching, writing scripts, sourcing assets, producing, editing and publishing across multiple platforms. The person will also edit fellow producers and conduct interviews for E! digital, spearheading E!’s weekend coverage, working Saturday–Wednesday.
The ideal candidate has experience in digital and entertainment news, strong news judgment, and an understanding of the E! audience. They should thrive in a fast-paced environment, use data-driven analysis and social conversations to determine content and pitch ideas, and work well both independently and in a team. The candidate should be adept at short-form and long-form content (8+ minutes) and capable of turning video into a written article when necessary.
This role requires a strong understanding of audience growth, metrics (page views, video views) and platform nuances. You’ll work closely with social and editorial to deliver content that grows reach and engagement.
Responsibilities
Create 4-7 digital videos daily under tight, news-driven deadlines from end to end: researching, scripting, sourcing assets, tracking VO, editing and publishing
Write strong, factual scripts that may stem from a legal or crime story
Edit video for special projects outside of daily tasking, including livestreams, weekly video series, mashups, interviews, show clips and other projects as assigned
Write sharp, SEO-friendly headlines and descriptions that drive traffic and views
Strong understanding of what works on different platforms, from E! Online to YouTube and Facebook
Use strong news judgment to identify trending stories, angles and opportunities to pitch
Create long-form and short-form content as well as mashups to tell a cohesive story
Edit with ease in Adobe Premiere. After Effects knowledge a plus
Optimize sound, lighting and graphics; add transitions, text and export final videos
Collaborate with the editorial team to align on content and timing, especially for weekend content
Shoot and produce content in the field and virtually when needed (interviews, junkets, premieres and more)
Manage multiple projects at once, balancing daily deadlines with upcoming assignments and responsibilities
Produce, edit and clip content on special projects and tentpole events, such as red carpets and award shows
Qualifications Basic Qualifications
BA or BS from a four-year accredited college or university or equivalent work experience, preferred
5+ years experience producing news digital-first video content end-to-end (pitching, writing, producing, editing and publishing)
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects).
Strong Photoshop skills.

Excellent writing and copy-editing skills; ability to self-edit when necessary.

Ability to interview celebrity talent with smart, news-driven questions. Ability to then turn content into digital videos for distribution.
On-camera presence is not required, but experience field producing and reporting on red carpets at entertainment events is a plus.

Hybrid:
This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the Los Angeles, CA office a minimum of three days per week.

Salary range: $80,000 - $90,000
