The Social Media Coordinator raises awareness of Help Group’s schools and programs by capturing and sharing compelling stories across digital platforms, documenting daily campus life through photo and video, managing social media content and engagement, and collaborating closely with the Senior Marketing Manager and creative team to produce high-quality, values-driven content. This hands-on, field-based role requires regular travel across Los Angeles County, in-office work in Sherman Oaks, and occasional evening or weekend hours to support events.

Location: Sherman Oaks
Key Responsibilities Content Capture, Video Production, and Storytelling
Capture and edit high-quality video and photography using a mix of professional cameras and mobile devices, adapting techniques to document both planned and in-the-moment content.
Collaborate closely with the Senior Marketing Manager to develop fun, educational, and community-building video content, storytelling concepts, and social media campaigns.
Document “day in the life” moments in a manner that is respectful, dignified, mission-aligned, and video in compliance with organizational consent, privacy, and media release policies, particularly when working with minors and vulnerable populations.
Support the creation of impact stories that elevate student, family, and school experiences.
Translate campaign concepts into platform-appropriate content, ensuring messages are effectively cascaded and differentiated across communication channels.
Social Media Management and Community Engagement
Manage day-to-day social media publishing across platforms, including scheduling posts and campaigns.
Collaborate with the Senior Marketing Manager on content calendars, campaign execution, and messaging priorities.
Monitor and respond to comments and direct messages in a timely, professional manner.
Manage a highly organized, shared content library of photo and video assets for team use.
Events and Content Planning
Maintain a comprehensive events calendar capturing activities across all schools, programs, and campuses.
Coordinate with program directors and heads of schools to plan content capture around events and milestones.
Support promotion of events across social media and digital channels.
Attend and support select evening and weekend events as needed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with the Graphic Designer to ensure visual consistency and strong creative execution.
Work closely with program leaders to identify storytelling opportunities.
Support execution of content strategy under the direction of the Senior Marketing Manager.
Qualifications
4+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or content creation.
Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a portfolio demonstrating creativity and impact.
Experience managing social media platforms and content scheduling tools.
Highly organized, adaptable, and collaborative; comfortable working with multiple stakeholders.
Ability to work in the field across Los Angeles County and in-office at the Sherman Oaks headquarters five days per week.
Willingness to support occasional evening and weekend events.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
Fluency in Spanish (spoken and written) a plus
Strong video and photography skills with a demonstrated ability to portray people in a dignified, respectful, and authentic way.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere Pro.
Proven storytelling ability with experience creating social media, video, or digital content.
Ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively within a team environment.
Experience working in nonprofit, education, or mission-driven organizations strongly preferred.
