
Senior Group Sales Consultant
The Senior Group Sales Consultant will collaborate with Regional Sales Managers throughout the sales cycle to uncover and deliver incremental growth opportunities. The individual will engage directly with our most strategic prospects and clients and be responsible for a variety of revenue generating activities.
Compensation $112,800 – $134,000 annually (range may vary). Exempt 18.
Responsibilities
Keep clients and prospects informed about Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and provide ongoing education.
Complete enrollment of a prospect by executing contracts and enrollment material, and educate group leaders and employees.
Employ appropriate time management and provide timely follow‑up and thorough service to all clients and company personnel.
When appropriate, recommend benefit changes and/or new product sales to meet the needs of our clients.
Interpret system and contract issues on non‑standard benefit groups.
Analyze and resolve jeopardy situations with knowledge of commercial competition.
Develop prospects through personal calls, follow‑up as appropriate, and deliver renewals, completing appropriate paperwork in a timely manner.
Maintain accurate records within the sales database system and complete all required reports (annual plans and weekly activity reports).
Assist with notifying groups of delays in paying premiums and communicate with groups and the underwriting department when exceptions to coverage and options are denied.
Keep current on market conditions in the assigned territory and stay abreast of state and federal health insurance reform issues.
Help resolve claims issues with the customer service center and groups when benefits are not correctly processed.
Oversee and sales support staff when necessary.
Attend monthly staff meetings and provide management with feedback on insureds' attitudes and develop recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications
Ability to develop relationships with brokers and educate them about products and processes of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas.
Knowledge of Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association rules and regulations concerning groups and prospects that can be written in our Plan area.
High volume of quality sales and retention calls to meet minimum goals and customer needs.
Valid driver’s license and qualifying driving record for company automobile insurance.
Non‑compete agreement required.
Industry knowledge of insurance products, services, and sales culture.
Exceptional objection handling & closing skills.
High integrity & ethical standards and professional appearance standards.
Effective communication of complex concepts to customers.
Excellent customer service and follow‑up skills.
Documented history of sales attainment/exceeding sales goals.
Understanding of complex contracting and ability to develop sound financial business cases.
Strong computer acumen and business application skills.
Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, economics, or related field preferred. In lieu of a degree, four years of extensive direct sales experience required.
