Location details: Our campus is located at 1601 Maple Street, Carrollton, GA 30118. Faculty and staff are expected to be physically present on campus as needed to support the on-campus experience, with potential assignments at Carrollton or Newnan campuses.

Job Summary UWG is seeking a self-motivated leader in counseling and health administration. This position serves as the administrative leadership for Counseling and Health Services and acts as the chief mental health officer, requiring high-level collaboration with faculty, staff, advocates, psychiatrists, nurses, campus physicians, and other campus constituents. The role ensures effective operations, proactively assessing and implementing processes related to clinic management, student success, and campus safety. Major responsibilities include strategic vision and leadership, serving as a key member of the CARE Team (BIT), and supervising a staff of 9 counselors, psychiatrists, interns, and clerical staff. This position directly supervises the Counseling and Health Leadership Team, the Health Services Business Operations Specialist, Health IT Specialist, and Patient Advocates.

Responsibilities

Supervision – Provide vision and strategic leadership for the Counseling Center and Health Services. Supervise up to twenty full-time professionals, including counselors and health services staff. Oversee administrative staff and direct reports such as Assistant Directors, Business Operations Specialist, IT Specialist, and Patient Advocates. Manage the Counseling Center Internship Program and support intern clinical supervisors. Serve on the Division of Student Affairs leadership team and advise other department heads on mental and physical health issues.

Budget – Manage the Counseling budget (~$1.2 million). Support Health Services budgeting with a 5-year business plan. Collaborate with budget managers on financial operations, grants, and revenue.

Goal Setting/Vision – Collaborate with the Health and Counseling Leadership Team on goal setting, action planning, and inclusion initiatives, including data collection, reporting, and database updates. Act as a key CARE Team member advising on mental health and wellness. Consult with counseling staff, faculty, and staff on student safety and mental health.

Administrative and Other Duties – Conduct safety assessments for students, make presentations, provide assessments for students returning from hospitalization, and perform other duties as assigned by the AVP for Student Affairs or the President.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements: Master’s Degree

Experience: Master’s degree in business administration, healthcare management, or a related field to Counseling or College Health. At least 5 years of counseling experience and medical office experience; 3+ years of clinical supervision; minimum 5 years of management experience. Knowledge of procedures, techniques, equipment, regulatory standards in student health; strong written and oral communication skills; experience with diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate/PhD

Experience with College Student Counseling and/or College Student Health; experience with Administrative Supervision; progression in roles; experience with medical records enterprise systems; CPCS/ACS designation preferred.

Proposed Salary:

$95,120.00 – $110,000.00 annually. Paid on a monthly basis.

Abilities, Knowledge & Skills

Abilities:

General office physical requirements; ability to lift up to 50 pounds; occasional after-hours work.

Knowledge:

The executive director oversees therapeutic services, hiring/discharge decisions, and authority within the Division; contributes to student health decisions and external collaborations.

Skills:

Collaborative leadership with Medical Director, project development in clinical services, outreach, and counselor training; coordinates with university units to ensure timely access, operational efficiency, fiscal integrity, and quality patient care.
