The Role In Brief Associate Principal, Financial Aid Optimization
– A strategic role focused on helping client colleges and universities optimize enrollment outcomes through data‑based financial aid strategies. This position may be based in Richmond, VA; Washington, DC; or Bloomington, MN, and is also open to remote employment within the continental United States.
Primary Responsibilities
Understand how the economy, public policy, and public perception of the value of a college degree affect student and family behavior.
Learn recent enrollment history and goals for each client.
Understand the basics of our analysis and simulation models.
Interpret and present findings to clients.
Use the live simulation model to help clients set their aid policy.
Monitor clients’ progress toward their goals.
Present to committees and boards to educate and lead discussions on performance trends and simulations regarding enrollment and financial aid.
Answer ad‑hoc data‑related and policy questions.
Note: Due to the academic calendar and 18‑month enrollment cycle, periods may require evening or weekend work.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
7+ years of relevant work experience where managing client/external relationships was a primary responsibility.
5+ years of experience in admissions or financial aid at a four‑year college or university.
Experience aligning strategic insights and solutions to client goals.
Professional or academic experience with a quantitative or data analysis focus.
Ability to persuasively present EAB’s commitment to innovative strategies that achieve desired outcomes.
Proven collaboration/team‑work orientation and influence for win‑win outcomes.
Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Ability to travel up to 25% – including visits to 15–20 college campuses during the summer and fall and intermittently throughout the year.
Ideal Qualifications
Graduate degree.
Experience with graduate, professional, or law admissions financial aid.
Experience leading large projects or events.
Commitment to continuous learning and contributing to a dynamic, fair, authentic, and inclusive culture supporting EAB’s mission.
Compensation The anticipated starting salary (base) range for this role is $75,000–$100,000 per year. Actual salary varies with experience, skills, and location. The position is also eligible for discretionary bonus or incentive compensation.
