Base pay range $180,000.00/yr - $240,000.00/yr
This role is designed for an experienced tax professional who enjoys building long-term client relationships, leading teams in a collaborative environment, and having real influence on both engagements and firm direction. The Tax Senior Manager will work closely with partners and clients, maintaining hands‑on involvement while helping shape the growth and development of the tax practice.
Overview of Responsibilities Client Advisory & Engagement Leadership
Lead and manage tax engagements for privately held businesses, partnerships, and high‑net‑worth individuals
Provide practical tax planning, consulting, and compliance support tailored to each client’s needs
Review complex federal and state tax returns and ensure accurate, timely filings
Identify planning opportunities and proactively advise clients on tax‑saving strategies
Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, building trusted, long‑term relationships
Supervise, mentor, and develop managers, supervisors, and staff through direct coaching and ongoing feedback
Oversee engagement planning, budgeting, and scheduling with a focus on efficiency and quality
Foster a supportive, team‑oriented environment that emphasizes professional growth and accountability
Technical Oversight & Quality
Stay current on tax law changes and interpret how they impact clients and the firm’s practice
Review workpapers and returns to ensure technical accuracy and consistency with firm standards
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to processes, technology, and workflow
Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Master’s in Taxation preferred)
Active CPA license
10+ years of public accounting experience with at least 3 years in a management or senior leadership role
Strong experience with partnership, corporate, and individual taxation, including multi‑state matters
Deep understanding of federal and New York State tax requirements
Comfortable owning engagements and working directly with clients
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skillsProficiency with common tax and workflow software
