Senior Counsel, Regulatory & Compliance
RELOCATION REQUIRED | Houston, Texas We have partnered with a publicly traded, international energy company to recruit a
Senior Counsel, Regulatory & Compliance
for its in-house legal team. This position is available due to the retirement of a long-tenured attorney and offers the opportunity to step into a well-established, high-impact role.
Location:
This role is based in
Houston, Texas . Candidates must be
willing to relocate to Houston , with
full relocation support provided
for the right individual.
The role reports to a Deputy General Counsel and works closely with senior leadership across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Advise on FERC matters, including tariff filings, abandonments, enforcement, compliance, and rate cases
Provide regulatory strategy, risk assessment, and business-impact guidance to midstream leadership
Handle day-to-day and complex FERC regulatory issues
Support global commercial trading operations on regulatory and compliance matters
Provide counsel on PHMSA, investigations, audits, and operational compliance
Manage and leverage outside counsel effectively
Advise on sanctions, trade compliance, and FCPA, including training initiatives
Collaborate with Government Affairs on public policy and rulemakings
Support the corporate compliance function
Qualifications
J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school; active U.S. bar membership
6+ years of regulatory and operational legal experience
Midstream energy experience strongly preferred
Strong judgment, collaboration, and communication skills
Must be willing to relocate to Houston, Texas
Willingness to travel up to 10%
