Director, Supply Chain Job Summary / Objective

The Director of Supply Chain is responsible for overseeing all aspects of demand and production planning, warehousing and logistics, distribution, and customer service, ensuring the delivery of safe, quality food products to customers in a timely and cost‑effective manner. The role requires cross‑functional coordination, strategic planning, and hands–on oversight. The ideal candidate is a strategic, data‑driven leader with deep experience in food manufacturing operations, a hands‑on management style, and the ability to build processes, systems, and teams that scale with growth.

Strategic Supply Chain Leadership

Develop and execute the supply chain strategy in alignment with business goals.

Lead all Supply Chain responsibilities, including planning, staffing, and organizational development.

Ensure consistent execution of systems and processes to create a safe work environment, deliver high‑quality products, and provide a superior customer experience.

Implement performance targets and monitor metrics, SOPs, and KPIs.

Design, launch, and institutionalize a formal S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) process that integrates demand, supply, and financial planning.

Demand & Production Planning

Create a demand planning function and transition production planning from MFG to Supply Chain.

Lead demand planning and forecasting processes in collaboration with Sales and Marketing to achieve accurate, data‑driven forecasts.

Oversee production planning to ensure optimal use of manufacturing resources and alignment with customer demand.

Drive continuous improvement in forecast accuracy, capacity utilization, and customer fill rates.

Collaborate with plant and production leadership to manage scheduling and labor constraints.

Warehousing, Logistics & Distribution

Lead and manage the warehouse, logistics, and transportation teams and functions.

Manage relationships with third‑party logistics (3PL) providers, carriers, and distribution partners.

Implement best practices in cold chain management and food safety compliance.

Achieve on‑time delivery to customers, retail distribution centers, and foodservice partners.

Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to food storage and transportation.

Customer Service

Lead the customer service function to ensure accurate, timely, and complete order fulfillment.

Monitor key customer service metrics (OTIF, order accuracy, lead times) and drive root‑cause problem‑solving.

Serve as the key escalation point for major customer supply or service concerns.

Continuous Improvement, Systems & Data Management

Implement metrics, KPIs, and dashboards to track supply chain performance and identify improvement opportunities.

Champion continuous improvement methodologies across all supply chain functions.

Evaluate and implement technology solutions (ERP, MRP, forecasting tools) to enhance visibility and planning accuracy.

Leadership & Team Development

Build, mentor, and lead a high‑performing supply chain team across planning, logistics, and customer service functions.

Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.

Develop organizational capabilities to support future growth and complexity.

Requirements

Direct management of Supply Chain leadership team.

Oversight of all Supply Chain associates.

Work Environment

Primarily a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to noise, temperature variation, and machinery.

Use of personal protective equipment as required.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Prolonged standing and walking on concrete floors.

Position Type

Full‑time.

Work Hours Typical work hours: Monday to Friday.

Required Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

10+ years of progressive supply chain experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role within food or beverage manufacturing.

Proven success in developing and executing an S&OP process in a manufacturing environment.

Strong understanding of demand planning, production scheduling, inventory management, and logistics.

Experience with ERP/MRP systems and advanced Excel or analytics tools.

Demonstrated track record of cost reduction, service improvement, and process optimization.

Preferred Education & Experience

APICS certification (CPIM, CSCP) is a plus.

Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Six Sigma).

Compensation The typical starting salary range for this position is $141,600 - $190,000 a year. Several factors, including skills, experience, education, certifications, and the location of the job will determine the actual pay offered. The salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for associates in these positions. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
