The Clinical Director provides clinical leadership, oversight, and supervision for therapeutic services within the Thistle Farms Residential Program. Grounded in Thistle Farms’ mission of healing, justice, and community, this role ensures the delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed, and evidence-based psychoeducational and therapeutic services that support women survivors on their healing journeys. The Clinical Director oversees the day-to-day clinical and programmatic operations of the residential program, supports and develops staff, ensures ethical and regulatory compliance, and collaborates across the organization and community to promote long‑term healing, stability, and empowerment for residents.

Job Responsibilities Clinical Leadership & Supervision

Provide clinical leadership and oversight for all therapeutic and psychoeducational services within the Residential Program.

Supervise and support the Residential Case Manager and Residential Support Specialists using a trauma‑informed, reflective, and strengths‑based approach.

Provide clinical supervision to interns when appropriate and in accordance with licensure standards.

Serve as the primary clinical liaison with external clinical providers, consultants, and referral partners to ensure continuity and quality of care.

Ensure services are survivor‑centered, culturally responsive, and aligned with evidence‑based and best‑practice models of trauma recovery.

Direct Services & Residential Program Management

Manage the day‑to‑day clinical and operational needs of the residential program in collaboration with program leadership.

Oversee individual recovery plans in partnership with residents and the Residential Case Management team, honoring resident voice, choice, and self‑determination.

Participate in case consultations, interdisciplinary team meetings, and crisis response as needed.

Support and oversee therapeutic programming, including groups focused on relapse prevention, emotional regulation, trauma recovery, life skills, and community building.

Program Development & Compliance

Develop, implement, and monitor clinical protocols, documentation standards, and quality improvement initiatives that reflect Thistle Farms’ holistic model of healing.

Ensure compliance with HIPAA, licensure requirements, ethical standards, and organizational policies.

Assist with data collection, outcomes tracking, and program evaluation to support grant reporting, learning, and continuous improvement.

Training & Capacity Building

Provide training and consultation for staff and partners on trauma‑informed care, mental health, recovery‑oriented practices, and survivor‑centered approaches.

Support the professional development, resilience, and wellness of residential program staff.

Collaborate with community providers to strengthen referral networks and expand access to supportive and therapeutic services for residents.

Organizational Leadership & Collaboration

Partner with organizational leadership to support strategic planning, program growth, and sustainability.

Represent the Residential Program in internal and external meetings, fostering collaboration and shared learning.

Model and promote Thistle Farms’ values of dignity, belonging, accountability, and community.

Qualifications Required

Master’s degree or higher in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field.

Active, unrestricted clinical license in the state of Tennessee (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT, Psychologist).

Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience, including work with survivors of trauma in residential or intensive service settings.

At least two (2) years of clinical supervision or leadership experience.

Strong knowledge of trauma‑informed care, psychoeducation, group facilitation, and evidence‑based treatment approaches.

Preferred

Experience working with survivors of trafficking, exploitation, violence, substance use, or complex trauma.

Experience in residential, recovery‑oriented, or community‑based programs.

Training in trauma‑specific modalities such as CBT, DBT, EMDR, or similar approaches.
