We are hiring a Director of Resident Services. This role directs daily functions of the Resident Services Department and facilitates the operation of residential programs (RCFE) to ensure residents’ satisfaction and their highest practical level of independence and functioning. The director acts as a conduit between staff and RCFE residents to enhance residents’ quality of life and manages receptionist staff to ensure coverage and customer service.
What You Will Do
Interviews, hires, supervises, trains, motivates and provides performance management of Reception/Concierge services.
Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and directs the ongoing operation of the Resident Services department, including its budget management. Continually seeks new programs/processes for revenue enhancement. Forecasts and plans changes for the development of the Resident Services Department. Develops and maintains written policies and procedures for all department tasks.
Ensures full compliance with Federal, State and local regulations. Supports successful surveys and inspections by regulatory agencies. Participates in total quality management processes to ensure Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) and resident satisfaction.
Completes, reviews, and submits plans, monthly reports, surveys, and forms as appropriate. Attends workshops, seminars, meetings, and other training for professional growth.
Maintains residents’ rights to fair and equitable treatment and confidentiality of staff and resident information.
Addresses residents’ emotional, educational, social, and spiritual needs; documents social and psychosocial needs and develops plans of care, directly or through referrals. Seeks higher resident satisfaction through effective communication with residents and families.
Monitors resident services to support wellbeing and satisfaction; coordinates resident support groups; assists residents and families during transitions; provides case management, information/referral, crisis intervention, and resources as needed.
Acts as the community designee for RCFE resident complaints and procedures, including Theft and Loss and Customer Grievance programs; maintains relevant logs and forms.
Educates and manages residents’ expectations upon entry and during residence; orients new residents; drafts/updates Resident Handbook; conducts orientations as necessary.
Serves as liaison between residents and management; reports concerns regarding residents’ physical, mental, or emotional status to the appropriate staff and families.
Participates in the Resident Review process; coordinates transitions to other levels of care; initiates and tracks 30-day letters to clear apartments.
Supports Activity Department in planning/leading educational programs; provides in-service education to staff on social and emotional needs of residents and families.
Supervises contracted Beauty Salon and Spa Salon services to ensure compliance with contract terms, resident satisfaction, and revenue goals; collaborates with Clinic and outside care providers to meet service requests.
Oversees department safety and risk control programs; ensures injuries are reported and investigated per Sequoia Living procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned, including serving as Manager on Duty.

Knowledge of OBRA regulations, Title 22 and Division 5 and 6 California Administrative Code; ability to interpret and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental laws and policies. Knowledge of advance directives and ability to counsel residents/agents on Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care.
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field; minimum three years’ supervisory experience; minimum three years’ experience in aging/geriatric fields.
