About Yad Vashem

Yad Vashem’s mission is to lead the documentation, research, education, and commemoration of the Holocaust, and to convey the chronicles of this singular Jewish and human event to every person in Israel, to the Jewish people, and to every significant and relevant audience worldwide. Yad Vashem serves as a global center for documentation, research, education, and commemoration, preserving the memory of six million Jews while confronting distortion, denial, and antisemitism. Housing the largest and most comprehensive collection of Holocaust artifacts, documents, photographs, and survivor testimonies, Yad Vashem ensures this history remains credible and accessible for future generations. Beyond remembrance, Yad Vashem is a living institution with an urgent contemporary mission. As the world enters an era without living Holocaust survivors, the responsibility to convey the lessons of this singular human tragedy has never been greater. Through rigorous scholarship, innovative education, and global outreach, Yad Vashem engages diverse audiences and stands as a lasting beacon of historical truth, moral clarity, and human dignity. Yad Vashem USA Foundation (YVUSA) seeks a dynamic, relationship-driven fundraising professional to serve as Director of Donor Engagement. This is a hands-on role within a growing development team focused on expanding philanthropic support for Yad Vashem across the United States. The Director of Donor Engagement will play a central role in building and managing a donor pipeline, with a particular emphasis on annual and mid-level donors. The role includes supporting donor cultivation and stewardship efforts, coordinating fundraising activities, and ensuring donors are thoughtfully engaged and positioned for deeper, long-term relationships with the organization. Reporting to National Director Tamar Major and working closely with Deputy National Director Beth Katznelson, this position offers meaningful opportunity for professional growth. Designed for a rising fundraising professional, the role has potential to expand in scope and leadership responsibility as YVUSA continues to scale its national development operation. Key Responsibilities

Manage and grow a portfolio of small and mid-level donors, including recent and unsolicited donors. Develop and implement strategies to move donors along a clear engagement pathway—from first-time gifts to repeat giving and, where appropriate, major gift qualification. Solicit and close gifts, including five-figure gifts, as appropriate. Ensure timely, thoughtful stewardship and follow-up with donors, collaborating closely with senior fundraising staff. Support donor cultivation efforts tied to regional travel, meetings, and events (e.g., Florida, New York, California). Coordinate logistics for donor meetings and small events, including communication with board members, donors, venues, and other partners. Work collaboratively with internal staff and consultants to ensure seamless execution of donor-facing activities. Interface with Yad Vashem in Israel to support alignment and content needs related to donor engagement and fundraising initiatives. Data, Systems & Reporting

Maintain accurate donor records and activity tracking during the organization’s transition to Salesforce. Utilize donor data to inform strategy, segmentation, and follow-up. Assist in preparing reports and materials for internal planning and donor conversations. Team & Organizational Support

Operate effectively in a lean, fast-paced environment where flexibility and initiative are essential. Pitch in across functions as needed to support the broader goals of YVUSA. Contribute to building a strong internal culture rooted in collaboration, professionalism, and warmth. Qualifications

5–7 years of demonstrated success in donor cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation. Passion for Yad Vashem’s mission and comfort operating within diverse Jewish communal contexts. Comfort working across a range of donor levels, with particular strength in engaging emerging and mid-level donors. A strong communicator, both written and verbal, who is effective in one-on-one and group settings. Ability to learn and gain deep understanding of a diverse range of programs and their impact to meaningfully engage philanthropic support. Proficiency in articulating programmatic impact to prospective donors. Highly organized, proactive, and adaptable; comfortable juggling multiple priorities in a small organization. Experience coordinating donor meetings, events, or travel logistics. Familiarity with donor databases/CRMs; Salesforce experience preferred. Location & Work Model

The preferred location for this role is New York City, with a hybrid work schedule (approximately 2–3 days per week in-office). Exceptional candidates based in South Florida (Miami/Aventura/Boca/Palm Beach area) will also be considered. The role requires periodic domestic travel and occasional travel to Israel. Yad Vashem USA Foundation offers a comprehensive and competitive compensation and benefits package for this role. The salary range for this position is $125,000–$150,000.
