This position is located at West Point Recreational Swim.

Duties
Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager. Employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests. Maintains daily logs, reports and records as required.
Responsible for lifeguarding guests in attendance at the assigned aquatics facility. Provides maximum pool area surveillance and responds to emergencies; rescues pool patrons and administers first aid as required.
Assists in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training according to TC 21-21 or with American Red Cross swim lessons. Participates in required training (on-the-job training emergency rescue drills, emergency action plan simulations).
Assists in maintaining pool and area clean and free from hazards. Performs periodic water tests and reports results to the pool leader on duty. Provides information to swimmers regarding safety/health/admission rules and procedures.
Tactfully warns patrons who repeatedly disregard safety rules and follows facility Standard Operating Procedures for disciplinary actions. Assists in coaching or preparing the competitive and non-competitive swimming programs as required.
Requirements
Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
A one-year probationary period may be required.
Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
Work hours may involve weekends, weekdays, holiday and night duty.
May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements.
Lifeguards must have good vision (based upon an acceptable standard of 20/40 vision or better, either (with glasses or contacts) or uncorrected) while on duty to effectively recognize all emergencies, incidents and rule breaking.
Position also requires lifting and carrying items weighing up to 45 pounds.
In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity.
Must have current health assessment which documents good physical health, and free from communicable disease IAW current Army Policy.
Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
This position is dual compensation exempt; All GS and NAF employees whether full time or part time are eligible to apply for this position.
Fifteen (15) year old lifeguards must comply with the restriction of the DOL Child Labor Laws (Jan 17, 2006).
All required certifications must be kept current.
