Intellectual Property (IP) Counsel / Associate
We are seeking an
IP Counsel / Associate
with strong professional integrity, motivation, and relevant experience to join the Legal & Tax Department of Kongsberg Maritime. This is a general in-house role with a primary focus on intellectual property, offering varied and challenging work in an international and business-oriented environment.
You will work closely with R&D, business units, management, and external advisors, contributing directly to the protection, development, and commercialization of Kongsberg Maritime’s technology and innovation portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Provide legal advice with a primary focus on
intellectual property (patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and technology licensing)
Support the development, protection, and enforcement of the company's global IP portfolio
Draft, review, and negotiate
IP-related and commercial agreements , including R&D, collaboration, and licensing agreements
Advise on IP aspects of
M&A, partnerships, and strategic projects
Support matters related to
compliance, regulatory issues, and corporate governance
where relevant
Contribute to internal legal training and awareness initiatives related to IP and technology protection
Participate in professional networks and collaborate with external legal advisors
Some travel should be expected

Qualifications
Master of Laws (Norway or international)
Special interest or experience in
intellectual property law and technology-related legal matters
High professional and ethical standards
3 to 7 years of relevant legal experience (candidates with both shorter and longer experience may be considered if the overall profile is strong)
Ability to work independently as well as in interdisciplinary teams
Strong capacity to manage multiple complex and demanding matters simultaneously
Excellent English skills, both written and spoken
Willingness to work across multiple legal disciplines
