Job Summary

The Event Specialist promotes and sells the Earl Miller Japanese Garden by recruiting events to utilize the space, planning, organizing, and executing a variety of events and handling all event sales, planning, and administrative duties. Key Responsibilities

Coordinate event planning, layout, timeline, and logistics. Respond to rental inquiries by email and phone. Schedule event spaces using the University EMS Event Management System. Negotiate basic vendor agreement terms. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Proven track record of meeting sales targets and delivering successful events. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong organizational and time‑management abilities. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet event schedules. Demonstrates commitment to providing exceptional service and creating memorable client experiences. Effectively addresses challenges and finds solutions to ensure event success. Adapts to changing circumstances and remains calm under pressure. Communicates with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community and follows all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including safety,ility, information security, and non‑discrimination. Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Business, or related field required. 2 years of relevant experience in event planning, sales, or related role required, 5 years preferred. Evening and weekend work required. Certificates

Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) or similar certification preferred but not required. Application Procedures
