Job Summary The Event Specialist promotes and sells the Earl Miller Japanese Garden by recruiting events to utilize the space. The Specialist plans, organizes, and executes a variety of events within the garden space, handling event sales, planning, and administrative duties to ensure smooth operation and success of each event.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate all aspects of event planning, including layout, timeline, and logistics.

Respond to incoming rental inquiries by email and phone.

Utilize the University EMS Event Management System to schedule event spaces.

Negotiate basic terms of vendor agreements.

Time Base 1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.

Compensation Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

Hiring Range:

The hiring range for this position is $4,617 (Step #1) - $5,304 (Step #8) per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

CSU Classification Salary Range:

The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4,617 (Step #1) - $6,727 (Step #20) per month.

To be eligible for full benefits at CSU, you must be appointed at least half-time (.50 FTE) and your appointment must last more than six months and one day. Eligible employees have access to this comprehensive benefits package, which includes:

Education and Experience Education: Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Business, or a related field required.

Experience: 2 years of relevant experience in event planning, sales, or a related role required, 5 years preferred.

This position will be expected to work evenings and weekends, as events require.

Certificates Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) or similar certification is preferred but not required.
