Description As a
Commercial Portfolio Manager – CSG Corporate Mortgage Finance , you will be responsible for underwriting CMF Lending facilities, assisting with legal documentation reviews, and monitoring client performance to ensure compliance with the Policies and Procedures of Huntington’s Corporate Mortgage Finance Group (CMFG). This position reports to the Portfolio Management Team Leader.
Responsibilities
Structure, underwrite, and close complex direct lend bilateral and/or syndicated asset‑backed credit facilities, including mortgage warehouse lines, mortgage servicing assets, and other mortgage‑related asset‑backed and SPE collateralized credit facilities.
Ensure all relationships and transactions in your assigned portfolio are in strategic alignment with the bank’s risk profile and credit policies.
Prepare accurate and timely risk ratings, credit request memorandums, and recommendations in compliance with CMFG and bank requirements, including new credit requests, modification requests, annual reviews, renewals, portfolio reviews, and asset reviews.
Monitor the performance of assigned CMF facilities to assess ongoing creditworthiness and anticipate opportunities and challenges.
Conduct monitoring and analysis, including stress testing, forecasting, concentration analysis, and macroeconomic evaluations.
Present findings at portfolio reviews and respond to senior management inquiries as needed.
Communicate suspected credit problems or deterioration within the assigned portfolio promptly.
Maintain acceptable levels of credit quality in accordance with the bank’s and CMFG’s credit policies, procedures, and guidelines, evidenced by satisfactory loan reviews and audits.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, senior management, internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication, collaboration, and problem solving.
Prepare and present portfolio reports highlighting performance, financial metrics, and internal policy compliance; produce ad‑hoc reporting as required.
Develop a deep understanding of industry markets and trends and share that knowledge with the team to support and improve risk management efforts.
Manage special projects as assigned, including drafting procedures and policies.
Utilize bank reporting, record‑keeping, and underwriting systems/tools to maintain accurate and timely portfolio detail.
Effectively manage multiple priorities.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree.
At least 2 years of relevant commercial credit experience in the mortgage finance industry.
Preferred Experience
Portfolio management experience within the mortgage finance industry or other specialty finance areas, with commitment sizes > $100MM.
Experience with legal structures, credit analysis, cash flow assessments, documentation, and surveillance standards for the facility types offered by the group.
Formal credit training and/or experience.
Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
Other Traits And Characteristics
Excellent organizational skills.
Strong knowledge of the GAAP principles applied to mortgage banking entities.
Experience preparing cash flow analysis and stress testing based on varied scenarios.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated success underwriting increasingly complex credits.
Exempt Status:
Yes (not eligible for overtime pay)
Workplace Type Office (certain positions may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement). This role combines in‑office and work‑from‑home opportunities.
Compensation Range $102,000.00 – $208,000.00 annual salary. Actual compensation may vary based on location, experience, and performance. Eligible for an incentive compensation plan and a range of benefits including health insurance, wellness program, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid leave, paid holidays, and PTO.
