Position Overview Senior‑level role supporting EPC project design work for power generation projects. Designers are responsible for developing detailed raceway designs including duct bank, embedded conduit, and cable tray from concept to completion. The team leads and collaborates with Kiewit’s construction teams to approach construction‑driven engineering with a focus on safe, cost‑effective, and innovative designs that achieve client expectations and further Kiewit’s legacy of excellence.

Location This position can be based in any of the following office locations: Lenexa, KS; Lone Tree, CO; Houston, TX; Raleigh, NC; Phoenix/Tempe, AZ; New York City, NY; or Woodcliff Lake, NJ. For roles in Chattanooga, TN; Detroit, MI; or Richmond, VA, the position will start remotely and transition to a hybrid/in‑office arrangement once the new office is established.
Responsibilities
Design duct bank, embedded conduit, cable tray, grounding, and lighting systems from concept to completion using engineering documents, sketches, or vendor data.
Perform calculations to size and check allowable fill in conduits and cable tray systems according to NEC requirements.
Develop 3D models using drawings, sketches, and design skills, checking for interferences and constructability.
Route electrical cables in a 3D environment to generate a cable schedule.
Model electrical components with vendor submittals and electrical designs.
Perform calculations to size pull boxes according to NEC requirements.
Utilize applicable engineering national and local codes.
Report project progression updates and/or issues to the project lead team.
Coordinate with the project team using the Project Database: Request for Review Process, Holds List, ECN, Request for Information, and other applicable functions.
Gather information needed to develop designs and verify voltage separation requirements are met.
Analyze, inspect, and construct designs while adhering to electrical quality standards and department procedures.
Check design for consistency, safety, operability, and maintenance requirements before submitting it for checking.
Resolve checked drawings; prove and understand comments made.
Complete miscellaneous tasks to support project development.
Act as a field resource to assist construction in field resolution on issues.
Qualifications
At least 8 years’ experience in electrical design.
Power generation experience preferred.
Experience with underground designs from concept to completion.
Experience in cable tray, grounding, and lighting from concept to completion.
Experience in SmartPlant 3D.
Experience in MicroStation or AutoCAD.
Must be able to conceptualize in a 3D environment.
Ability to work in a growing, adaptive, and multi‑discipline team environment.
Ability to work independently with limited direction and oversight.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Working Conditions

Work productively and meet deadlines timely.
Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.

Base Compensation:
$107,000/yr – $112,000/yr (actual compensation is subject to variation based on education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
