As a Senior Staff Experience Designer, you will shape how millions of users experience the Venmo app. You’ll craft end-to-end experiences that solve complex problems and inspire delight through thoughtful design, strategic insight, and compelling storytelling. You’ll partner with cross-functional teams—product, engineering, research, and marketing—to define possibilities, align around a shared vision, and turn complex challenges into elegant solutions. You will lead by example, guiding teams through ambiguity with clear thinking and a user-first mindset. You’ll champion design excellence, mentor others, and elevate craft to ensure every experience delivers measurable value. Expect a fast-paced environment overseeing multiple projects while demonstrating strong communication skills when relaying concepts to design teams and stakeholders. Essential Responsibilities

Develop and articulate clear objectives to enhance user and customer experiences that deliver results and meet organizational goals Influence decision-making at the senior leadership level Perform highly complex digital and physical product and service work using domain knowledge and business expertise Develop and deliver innovative strategies that benefit customers and product users Lead major business projects which impact the Experience Design job family Design, evaluate, and select process, product, and service improvements based on user needs and industry trends Mentor and guide junior team members in user-centered design practices Expected Qualifications

8+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience Additional Responsibilities And Preferred Qualifications

Lead end-to-end design strategy and execution for complex, high-impact initiatives that shape the future of Venmo’s commerce experience Define and drive a cohesive vision across multiple products, ensuring consistency, usability, and delight Translate business goals and user insights into clear design strategies and scalable experience frameworks Craft compelling narratives and storytelling that communicate design rationale and influence stakeholders Use data, research, experimentation, and testing to measure impact and drive improvements Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive strategy, execution, and delivery Create high-quality deliverables and execute based on product design goals with an extended schedule Foster collaborative cross-discipline dynamics and drive product design delivery excellence Stay ahead of UX, advertising technology, and digital product design trends to inform innovation Contribute to planning and estimation of work; maintain connection to cross-product work streams Create well-crafted interactive prototypes, templates, and presentations Work across design systems to drive cohesion across PayPal network products Contribute to our UX Design practice and culture Requirements

At least 8+ years in product design, with a blend of UX and visual design strengths Bachelors, Masters, or equivalent in Design, Information Architecture, Human Factors, or related field A portfolio showcasing design excellence and business outcomes Experience in an agency or consumer-facing app Mastery of product design methodology across channels and platforms Customer-focused with experience in design research methods Ability to operate in an iterative design team with defined milestones Knowledge of mobile, web, and native design Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management Experience with pattern libraries, repositories, and internal tools Proficiency with Figma and prototyping tools PayPal is committed to fair and equitable compensation.
