Associate Athletic Director for Sport Psychology & Mental Wellness

Position Summary Contribute to the mission of the Athletics Department by participating in all areas of service delivery, with a special focus on student athletes and professionals within the Athletic Department.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology, or related field, or Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field, and eligibility for appropriate licensure in North Carolina.
The successful candidate will be expected to obtain licensure in North Carolina within one year of start date and maintain licensure for the continuation of the appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
Interest and experience providing clinical services and outreach programming to student athletes.
Interest and experience providing consultation in a university setting and building collaborative relationships with coaches, trainers, and Athletic Department staff.
APA-approved training for both academic and internship preparation.
Experience in a University Counseling Center.
Committed to a proactive student development perspective involving an active relationship with the campus community; demonstrates skills and interest in working with diverse populations; is team-oriented and collaborative with students, colleagues, and university staff; and has broad generalist clinical skills in assessing and intervening with a wide range of disorders, concerns, and degrees of pathology.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties of the position include short-term individual, group, and couples therapy; psychological assessment; crisis intervention; consultation; outreach and psychoeducational workshops (sometimes after hours); clinical supervision and training; case management as needed; liaison/consultant relationships with university partners.
Provide clinical services to student‑athletes, while also coordinating their connection with the comprehensive services of the Counseling Center and other resources on and off campus.
Build collaborative relationships and provide consultation and mental‑health related education for coaches, athletic trainers, and Athletic Department staff.
Provide or arrange workshops for student‑athletes related to mental health topics as requested.
Serve as an active member of the Athletics Health Care Providers Team.
Provide performance enhancement services to students and teams.
Type of Position Full Time Position
Work Schedule/Hours Generally 8:00–5:00 p.m. Monday–Friday with some evenings and weekends; 40 hours per week; 12 months per year.
