Vice President Commercial / Business Lending

Department: Business Lending Department Reports To: Chief Lending Officer Employment Status: Full Time Classification: Exempt Position Summary

This position is responsible for managing the operations of the Business Lending Department which primarily include: business loan originations, underwriting, closing, servicing, reporting and portfolio management. This position is also responsible for managing the origination and servicing of business deposit accounts with direct oversight of the Business Deposit Manager. Manages all employees in the Business Lending Department. Participates in developing policies, procedures, strategies, objectives and goals. Responsibilities Work closely with loan officers to maximize new loan productivity, negotiate loan terms and help create optimal structure for new loans and renewals. Work closely with underwriters to ensure the quantitative and qualitative analysis on Credit Memos is accurate and adequate. Serve as chairperson of the Commercial Loan Committee. Work closely with loan closers to ensure all loans are closed with appropriate documents, signatures, covenants, etc. to protect the credit union. Work closely with loan officers and support staff to ensure that ticklers, covenants and ongoing documents are received in a timely manner and managed appropriately. Monitor performance of the business loan portfolio. Provide guidance to loan officers for early-stage delinquent loan payment collection activities. Develop and monitor exit / upgrade strategies on distressed loans. Coordinate with the Collections Manager and attorney for collection of business loans in default. Work closely with support staff to ensure that reports are prepared accurately and timely. Work closely with the Business Deposit Manager to maximize deposit growth and services. Develop goals for each position in the department. Monitors progress of goals and coaches each position. Monitor all federal and state regulations and recommend changes to policy and procedures. Manage vendor relationships, including contract review and negotiation for new contracts and renewal of existing contracts. Research market for alternative vendors, performs due diligence. Serve as project lead for implementing new services. Manage relationships and due diligence associated with business loan-participations. Lead team by example in demonstrating the Credit Unions caring values and supporting the Credit Unions goals, mission and vision. Actively pursue new business opportunities and develop new member relationships. Interview and hire new employees for the department. Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of business lending related experience Minimum of 2 years of business lending managerial experience Prefer strong business loan underwriting background with significant sales experience in the Houston TX market Prefer extensive banking and credit union business lending management experience

Education

Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Management or Economics is required. Prefer Masters degree in Business Administration

ADA Requirements

Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs. Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
