NLSA Surf, a premier youth soccer club based in Mercer County, NJ, is looking for a highly passionate and driven Girls ECNL‑RL Director and head coach. The goal is to find a leader and coach who fits into our values, vision and will help continue to grow the club and help our players reach their full potential. *

Role would begin July 2026 *

Key Responsibilities of ECNL‑RL Director:

Lead and manage all ECNL‑RL girls teams across age groups

Work with the Director of Soccer on implementing and maintaining a clear player development pathway aligned with club philosophy

Ensure ECNL‑RL league standards and policies are consistently met

Conduct regular coach evaluations, training observations, and feedback sessions as necessary

Promote ongoing coach education and professional development

Oversee player identification, tryouts, roster selection, and retention

Monitor individual player development plans (IDPs) and progression

Support player placement within the club pathway (ECNL‑RL, or other levels)

Communicate development goals clearly to players and families

Coordinate with leadership on scheduling, travel, showcases, and league events

Serve as the primary ECNL‑RL liaison for league communication and compliance

Manage rosters, player movement, and league documentation

Act as a visible leader and ambassador of the club

Maintain proactive, professional communication with families and staff

Address player, parent, and coach concerns in a timely and constructive manner

Foster a positive, competitive, and inclusive culture aligned with club values

Support college exposure strategy in collaboration with college placement staff

Educate families on the ECNL‑RL platform and recruiting process

Preferred Experience:

Experience within the ECNL or ECNL‑RL platform

College recruiting knowledge and network

Background in curriculum development and coach education

On‑Field Coaching Responsibilities:

Responsible for leading and planning training sessions, developing player skills, and fostering a positive learning environment

Work closely with individuals and groups to enhance technical abilities, tactical understanding, physical fitness, and overall performance on the field

Design and implement age and skill level‑appropriate training sessions tailored to the needs and goals of each player and team

Provide instruction on various aspects of soccer including dribbling, passing, shooting, defending, etc. and game strategy

Conduct Individual Development Plans to evaluate player strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement

Offer constructive feedback and encouragement to motivate players to reach their full potential

Monitor player progress and adjust training plans accordingly to ensure continual development

Maintain a safe and inclusive environment that promotes teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship

Potential to assist with organizing and coordinating events such as private sessions, small group sessions, camps, and clinics

Represent Next Level Soccer Academy in a professional manner at all times

Off the Field:

Communicate effectively with players, parents, and other staff members to address questions, concerns, and feedback when needed

Work closely with Leadership Staff

Take part in all Coaching Education Programs required by DoC

Achieve all goals assigned by Club Director

Skills & Abilities:

Strong understanding of modern soccer tactics, training methodologies, and player development strategies

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to collaborate with Directors, Coaches, Players, and Families in a positive and constructive manner

Ability to evaluate Coach performance and provide feedback in a clear and effective manner

Passion for soccer and dedication to fostering youth development

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Stay updated on the latest coaching methodologies, trends, and advancements in youth soccer

Pursue relevant coaching certifications and attend workshops to enhance coaching skills

Pass Background Check

Pay will range from ~$31k to ~$45k depending on if 2 or 3 teams are being coaching along side the ECNL‑RL Director role.

Requirements:

Minimum USSF C License (B License strongly preferred)

Previous experience coaching elite girls teams (ECNL, ECNL‑RL, GA, or equivalent)

Proven leadership experience managing coaches or programs

Strong understanding of long‑term player development models

Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills

Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required
